"Net financing costs increased to GBP153m (2018: GBP110m) reflecting a higher average interest rate and higher average debt levels. "

I don't recall a re-financing talking about higher interest rates, so I have to assume that this is about extending credit lines into a higher average rate by taking on more debt at the higher end.

We know they spent £675m on buybacks which would not be in the debt now.

"Long-term borrowings .............................. 3,755.4 2,728.4"

So that is up £1027m

The final dividend alone is costing about £167m

Finance costs £153m

Final Recap: Full Year Dividend Predictions:

Ashtead results for the year ending 30th Apr are due to be announced on 18th June.
So far we have the following estimates for the final dividend: (2018 27.5p):

So just the final part of the divi

Thompsonnic: 32.5p
mjcf: 33p
DD: 33.5p
bracke: 33.5p
SMCNI1968: 34p
Ian: 35p
fenners66 33.3p
(updated 17/06/19)

To join in, please copy and paste this post, and add your own estimate before 18th June.

No prizes for the best guess, just the appreciation and admiration of your fellow posters!

The pattern suggests 32.5p but that should be without the changes to the share structure from the buy backs - so for them to mean anything at all they should be flexing the divi to at least 33.3p

Of course I would like it a lot higher.......

Hi Ian,I'm still owed a couple of pints for it going above £20 but now mater has offloaded it's not as vital to our EG now!.Wasn't an easy decision to sell some but holding too many and not taken any profit for a while, my gut instinct rather than my head was the decider!.All the best,

Hi DD,

Greetings, and well done for taking some profit out of your AHT holdings.

Unfortunately this may mean that your diminished holding will not qualify for the 'brackey bonus' when the share price reaches 2000p, but he hasn't paid up yet, so no change there I suppose :-)

I've tried, oh how I've tried, but apparently you have to be a fully paid up member to vote :-(

Honestly, does anyone pay any attention to the little red and green voting boxes.....?

Good evening DD & bracke,

Just to let you know I will not be around early tomorrow when the Ashtead results are published, and hence I will be happy to congratulate the winner of our 'guess the weight of the dividend ' competition later in the day.

I imagine Fennners entry is still being worked on, it looks like it is going down to the wire at 11.59pm, when the competition closes.

The protest committee will be meeting tomorrow if needed!

....."aggravated by a profit warning from a construction services sector peer"Think that's Somero (ticker SOM) that I mentioned last week. They specialise in patented machinery that lays concrete floors very accurately (mainly for large warehouse space where floor accuracy is vital). That said though from memory they also export to China so that would have also contributed to their profit warning.

From Proactive Investor today:Shares in Ashtead Group PLC (LON:AHT), the FTSE 100-listed construction equipment hire firm, have sunk 20% underwater since reaching high ground last year and ahead of full-year results on Tuesday have been quite bogged down.Pressure has come from investor concern about a slowdown in the key North American market, which has been further aggravated by a profit warning from a construction services sector peer, which blamed high levels of rainfall in the US for a rash of delayed contracts.Ashtead, which derives around 85% of its sales and 90% of profits from its US-based Sunbelt business, can take confidence from US rival United Rentals, which reported solid first quarter figures in April.Despite headwinds from wet weather, analysts at broker Numis said they believe there is scope for Ashtead to beat its forecasts for pre-tax profit of £1.1bn."Peer United Rentals has twice outlined strong trading conditions since Ashtead last reported, with commentary confirming strong growth across all geographies and verticals. Ashtead has consistently outperformed its peer on a like-for-like sales growth basis," the Numis analysts added.
