20/12/2017 18:44 | Looks to me like the office Xmas party has taken it's toll at Barclays..... the figures quoted in todays RNS on buyback relate to yesterday, 19th Dec!!! | ianwwwhite
20/12/2017 11:22 | Likely resistance zones are 2000/2010 and then the gap fill at 2060. | bracke
19/12/2017 20:12 | Nice one 2flat. | discodave4
19/12/2017 09:31 | Managed to catch the knife,my wounds are healing nicely. Any ideas where we are heading. It looks like dental treatment soon. I am surprised at the quick turnaround although I was surprised at the size of the pullback. Comparing AHT with URI I note since Trump day 08/11/16 Aht is up 60% and Uri 120%. To me the fundamentals of AHT are better than URI, which leads me to the question are URI over price or AHT under priced. Cheers | 2flatpack
18/12/2017 14:54 | Dow up strongly, URI and H&E also rising , can we ride on the coat tails? | fenners66
18/12/2017 13:38 | bracke well spotted . cheers | 2flatpack
18/12/2017 12:21 | ian/bracke I would suggest that with a minimum £500,000,000 to use up in 18 months they will not have a target price other than that imposed in the RNS. It will be spend. spend, spend . I could not believe the size of the pullback and have been catching the falling knife again,Jumped in heavy this morning , not quite 200day standard but close. Saved a little in case it gets to the 200. As always I live in hope. Cheers | 2flatpack
18/12/2017 11:55 | "President Donald Trump campaigned on a pledge to cut taxes, and passing the legislation marks a significant victory. He has said he wants the bill signed into law before Christmas." | palwing13
18/12/2017 11:08 | Viewing the chart above the large gap following the high does look like a Breakaway Gap but this is AHT so is it really just a Common Gap? The Directors are willing to throw money at the share price to maintain its current position so the probability of a continued reduction in price appears unlikely. Best guess would be the share price holds at 1900 in the expectation that when the Trump Tax Bill is passed it will move back up again. | bracke
18/12/2017 09:00 | 2flatpack Thanks. I was interested to note from the RNS the following: Date of transaction: 15 December 2017 Average price paid per Share: 1901.8447 pence Lowest price paid per Share: 1889.0000 pence Highest price paid per Share: 1926.0000 pence I surmise that the first purchases were early in the day as the share price fell through 1926. I wonder whether this is a clue to the target price support level? | ianwwwhite
15/12/2017 20:52 | Evening All, Buy back today was 110,000 shares @ 1901.8447 which totals £2,091,591. If the spend were the same each day for the next 18 months the cost would be something like £2,091,951 x 390 days = £815,720,591. Lets hope it will have more effect than it had today . We finished 28 pts down. I note URI are 387 pts 2.39% up.They always do better from our results than we do. Have a good weekend . Cheers | 2flatpack
15/12/2017 16:28 | God afternoon bracke, Welcome back, I see that you are in good spirits. I imagine the frogs are pretty relieved to have avoided the sauna around half year results this year too :-) More to the point your prognosis yesterday of a drop to around 1900, bouncing off 1870ish looks pretty much spot on, we just need to regain 1900 ready to move in the right direction on Monday - is that too much to ask? If not, I will seriously have to think about your offer of employment on a market stall! . | ianwwwhite
15/12/2017 14:56 | Thank you. | lairddavid
15/12/2017 13:48 | Is there a tiny gap there around 2020? | lairddavid
15/12/2017 13:46 | Me to Bracke...back in with a small long. | lairddavid
15/12/2017 13:41 | Good day ian I think you should set up a stall at your local market. I can hear you now " I'M NOT ASKING £21 FOR THESE SUPERB AHT SHARES, NOT £20.50, NOT £20, NOT £19.50 BUT £19. I'M PRACTICALLY GIVING THEM AWAY. THIS IS A ONCE IN A LIFETIME OFFER. HURRY! HURRY! HURRY!" And with that a scruffy man in a grubby raincoat steps up. "How many Sir" ian asks "one please" says the man "ONE!" says ian "yes" says the man "I usually sell AHT shares but I was boiled once so I'll try buying but I don't want to over do it. | bracke
14/12/2017 20:31 | Davidcar7 Many thanks, much appreciated. I too am optimistic that AHT will resume it's upwards trajectory in due course. In the meantime I believe the dip presents an opportunity to buy shares at a knocked down price. No ramp intended bracke! | ianwwwhite
14/12/2017 19:46 | Ref post 54796 ianwwwhite I have written to Geoff Drabble re the buy back vs higher dividends and reduction in debt owing. Should I receive a reply I would be happy to share the substance of that response. Since the results were issued 2 days ago the shares have drifted quite a significant amount lower -however the figures were outstanding and I believe eventually AHT share price will continue its upward trajectory. | davidcar7
14/12/2017 18:30 | bracke ho, ho ho :-) Macbeth? Really? I am led to believe he was a bit of a ramper too! Possibly the most entertaining post I've seen this year (sincerely), well done bracke, and after all, it's well past wine o'clock lest the world thinketh we have gone quite mad! . | ianwwwhite
14/12/2017 17:58 | bracke ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Unfortunately I'm out tomorrow until late afternoon. I will be interested to see if 1900 has supported when I return. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ If it hasn't, I'll be out on the window-ledge!!! :-( . | ianwwwhite
14/12/2017 17:41 | One final thought on the share buyback rationale.... If AHT price continues to fall, and AHT continue to be very cash generative, this might make us a tempting target for any predatory competitor. Any retained cash pile would of course help defray some of a successful aggressor's costs of the deal as well. Could the share buyback supporting the share price be a defence mechanism for AHT? ..... just a thought :-) . | ianwwwhite
14/12/2017 17:11 | Shorting AHT amounts to 1.0% so short covering will have little affect on the share price Obviously profit taking is occurring. It therefore depends at what point buyers perceive that it has dropped sufficiently to be worth buying and the buying balances selling. Unfortunately I'm out tomorrow until late afternoon. I will be interested to see if 1900 has supported when I return. | bracke |
