11/11/2016 22:26 | I never thought I'd hear bracke say a trade was "an accident" ! I throw my tea leaves up in shock! | uppompeii
11/11/2016 17:40 | Good day ian I was adjusting the stop and put in the wrong figure. I still have a couple of trades running and may add. clarky is going for 'riches beyond avarice'. | bracke
11/11/2016 16:53 | Well done bracke, kept a cool nerve under pressure! Hopefully clarky has done ok too. Interesting to see which direction AHT takes next week? Ian | ianwwwhite
11/11/2016 16:18 | Covered one trade at 1st fib for 38.29 points......by accident!!! Will consider another trade depending on share price action. | bracke
11/11/2016 16:17 | Covered one trade at 1st fib for 38.29 points. | bracke
11/11/2016 13:31 | Good day clarky 12s'!!! You been reading Great Expectations again? If it dropped to the ML at 1332 I could afford a very pleasant Christmas rather than Christmas Dinner of beans on toast.......again. The 2nd quarter results are on 06 December. | bracke
11/11/2016 09:52 | clarky Before or after results? cheers | 2flatpack
10/11/2016 21:55 | I am hoping to be visiting the 12s again before Christmas. | clarky5150
10/11/2016 16:50 | Ref AHT That's a good entry point clarky, certainly a lot better then my first. Depends what you are targeting. First support is 1400. It dropped to that level to-day and was supported. If it breaks below 1400 the first daily fib is at 1387 and the next is at 1356. If you are going for riches beyond avarice the next fib (50%) and Median Line is at 1332. | bracke
10/11/2016 16:35 | Took a small short just before close on uri and aht.time will tell.... | clarky5150
10/11/2016 14:58 | URI racing away again. | fenners66
10/11/2016 13:43 | clarky Almost but not quite. The US Indices look ready for a drop but.... My first trade was poorly timed...premature entry. | bracke
10/11/2016 13:19 | Almost breakeven. well done bracke. | clarky5150
10/11/2016 12:53 | The returns on UK plant hire have to be worse than USA, so I would concentrate on the states , just let Hewden die and approach any customers direct | fenners66
10/11/2016 12:23 | I hear Hewden went into administration yesterday but nothing online yet. At one time Hewden were by far the biggest UK hirer but they lost their way in recent years.I could imagine Ashtead would want to cherry pick their assets or maybe depots. Used equipment overseas will be in demand due to weakness of the pound. Another good opportunity for AHT and one less UK competitor. Across the pond, United Rentals had a big jump yesterday too. | tiggertiger
10/11/2016 12:00 | ian LOL!! No I have added breakeven is 1390.05. Good day clarky Yes I also consider it will retrace as a result of profit taking and have added. Yesterday was an All Time Closing High at 1385 and to-day it made an All Time Intraday High at 1434. It has reached the Upper Parallel of the Daily Pitcfork using the October high and November low. That does not mean it can't rise higher but it does increase the chance of a retrace. | bracke
10/11/2016 11:52 | Hi Clarky - good to see you here again. Going over to the Dark Side are you! Having said that I agree a profit is a profit , period. | fenners66
10/11/2016 11:32 | Hmm closed out yesterday far too early. This surely is going to get some profit taking in due course. I certainly wouldn't be closing any shorts just yet Bracke. In fact I would be looking to increase that bet very soon (stick one on URI at the same point) one of the two will turn the corner and drag the other with it. Genuine long term holder of both BTW but it cant hurt to play both sides from time to time ;) | clarky5150
10/11/2016 11:24 | Good morning bracke, I was just beginning to worry, I hope that you managed to unwind your short without too much damage, as AHT continues to defy gravity. As Adam said to Eve, 'kindly stand back Madam, I'm not sure how big this thing is going to get!' | ianwwwhite
10/11/2016 11:18 | Hi fenners I agree! I think that most of us assumed that the deck was stacked some-how, but in my case, somewhat naively, I had assumed that analysts had just one imperative, to assess a companies prospects, and to disseminate their views uniformly, honestly and without fear or favour... Clearly in this case I was wrong! | ianwwwhite
10/11/2016 11:17 | Good day LAIRD Yes I noticed it yesterday but what type of gap? Holders will hope it is a breakaway certainly the volume supports that. If it is a breakaway it should continue moving up, it doesn't then the probability is that it is a common gap and will fill in the short to medium term. Good day ian A good article but are we surprised; I doubt it. I suspect such is occurring on a regular basis but others are better at doing it and avoiding detection. Good day fenners "If you go back 10 years here AHT shares were flying then some big players in the market dumped them" ==================== I remember it well!! It was one major holder ( I think it was Aegon who are now known as Kames Capital) who sold either 24 or 27 million shares in one hit at a price considerably below the share price The reason they gave was that the share price had risen well and they wanted to take their profit and then as you post a couple of weeks later the rights issue was announced and the price fell again. Was there an enquiry. No! | bracke
10/11/2016 10:11 | Interesting article Ian, I guess we already figured this could happen. Also begs the question what really is insider trading? If you go back 10 years here AHT shares were flying then some big players in the market dumped them ( I can't remember which institutions) weeks later a rights issue and AHT set to buy Nations Rent, share price crashes and we all assumed that the insti's had been tapped up for their support for the rights. Did that mean that with advance warning they sold? | fenners66
10/11/2016 08:17 | Bracke...If you like a gap, check out the one created yesterday on URI. | lairddavid
10/11/2016 07:20 | URI closed up 17% yesterday! In the meantime if you have 5 minutes to spare, there is a fascinating insight into the workings of a Deutsche Bank analyst, I am surprised to find that what they think and what they say are not always the same thing! | ianwwwhite
09/11/2016 19:20 | It was only a week ago: Deutsche Bank Sell 710.Today from sharecast an article about today's rise at AHT and CRH:"In a European equity strategy note on Wednesday, Deutsche Bank highlighted both companies as potentially benefitting from higher infrastructure spending in the US. It noted that 84% of Ashtead's revenues are generated in the US, while CRH generates 53% of it sales from across the pond."If they were any sharper they would be dangerous!......comp | discodave4 |
