The share price was somewhat of a 'damp sqib' today but look on the bright side, it filled the gap from Friday to Monday.

Now what about those two large ones....... up or down?

Please rescuer no smutty innuendo from you. It lowers the whole tone of the thread and upsets some of the 'natives'.

Fair comment.

Unless there are a large number of less than 0.5% shorters, which is unlikely, they will not make much difference.

If the US 'takes off' this afternoon on the back of China data it may be sufficient to push the share price over 1000.

You probably are already aware that only those short positions greater than 0.5% are registered with the FCA, so the total could be more than 1.47%.GLDD

1.47% is approx 7.3 million shares which is not a lot.

If you had bought these shares at or close to the current level you might want to cover the possibility of a fall.

The medium/long term is some time away. In the shorter term who knows. More disturbing news from China could easily send the market down some distance.

One might consider it prudent to hedge against a fall.

I can not see that, the share price is at its lowest for years, the outlook is good.
In the medium to long term the share price is going up, is there enough volatility in the market that will let them drive the price down even more ?
It looks a high risk strategy to me.

After the results and outlook this shorting is beyond my understanding.

The share price has dropped back to the ML and the 2 Hour SMA 200. The indications are that they will provide insufficient support.

Top - it rather depends whether you hold in nominee names or directly.

If, say, Barclays Stockbrokers hold for you, it won't be credited to your account until Monday in all probability.
