15/9/2022 18:57 | Good day fenners I thought the comment was quite restrained considering Armageddon is just round the corner or so I read so it must be true. I believe the correct action is to buy up large quantities of baked beans and toilet rolls. | bracke
15/9/2022 16:39 | Sorry guys I think you were looking there at the story not the hyperbolic quote I was referring to.... " Could Literally put the Entire economy on hold " So no more popping down to the corner shop for a pint of milk then ? Because Literally the Entire economy was going to stop !!!! | fenners66
15/9/2022 15:14 | Good day disc0 I just tried the link above and it worked for me this is the main part 'Railway workers and companies have finally come to a tentative labor agreement that would avert a strike, which was set to go into motion shortly after midnight. The Association of American Railroads said the deal would give rail employees a 24% wage increase during the five-year period from 2020 through 2024, as well as an immediate payout that averages around $11,000. While the contract covers around 60,000 workers, it still needs to be ratified by the holdout unions, and a sick-leave policy needs to be ironed out.' | bracke
15/9/2022 15:03 | Doesn't work Mr b.....they've struck a deal from what I've read :) | disc0dave45

15/9/2022 10:14 | Bloomberg discussing a potential US railway strike with a correspondent... There's talk about management and unions making a tentative pact ? Correspondent Kriti Gupta comments about a lot of things that move by rail "including commuting ! " Then finishes by saying " Could Literally put the Entire economy on hold " not at all prone to hyperbole then.... guess since the literally entire economy moves on rails , if there is a strike AHT are screwed then....... not. | fenners66

13/9/2022 14:23 | August Inflation Number Comes In Higher Than Expected, Triggering Bearish Market Reaction. What Happened: According to data from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, the headline CPI rose 8.3% in August, down from 8.5% in July. The August CPI reading came in above average economist estimates of 8%. Core inflation, which excludes volatile food and energy prices, was up 6.3% in August, above average economist estimates for a 6.1% gain. The Labor Department said gasoline prices fell 10.6% month-over-month in August. Energy prices were down 5% and food prices climbed Why It Matters: Tuesday's CPI inflation reading comes on the heels of a strong August jobs report, showing the U.S. added 315,000 jobs last month. The U.S. unemployment rate came in at 3.7%. Wages were up 5.2% year-over-year in August, but inflation is still outpacing wage growth. The latest CPI inflation data could act as a confirmation of recent indicators for the Fed and signal that another 0.75% rate hike is likely this month. Extract from: . | perfido
13/9/2022 13:38 | US CONSUMER PRICE INDEX - AUGUST 2022 The Consumer Price Index for All Urban Consumers (CPI-U) rose 0.1 percent in August on a seasonally adjusted basis after being unchanged in July, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reported today. Over the last 12 months, the all items index increased 8.3 percent before seasonal adjustment. (The markets took it badly) Source: . | perfido

12/9/2022 17:16 | Hi Disc0, Thanks, but I recognise that there is still a lot of risk in the markets, so I regard the PCA experiment as 'fun money' - to a large extent I rely on fund managers to manage my other pennies :-) The Goldman Sachs forecast is interesting, lacking only a delivery date .. . | perfido
12/9/2022 17:05 | Goldman Sachs raises AHT price target to 6150 (from 5850) and retains "buy" rating. | disc0dave45

12/9/2022 16:55 | A quiet day here today, and surprisingly little comments as AHT puts in a rousing performance, plus 166p to close +3.9% at 4458p. I thought a few posters might be interested to know how my small PCA (pound cost averaging) experiment was progressing, so here is a rough summary to date: Purchases: 08/03/22 50 shares @ 4699 08/04/22 50 shares @ 4674.9 07/06/22 50 shares @ 4185.2 11/07/22 50 shares @ 3798.5 06/09/22 50 shares @ 4238.5 07/09/22 47 shares @ 4071.5 Total 297 shares purchased, cost including charges £12,811, valued at today’s closing bid price 4474p = £13,287, notional profit to date £477. In the meantime the 75% remaining of my original core holding after 25% was sold down in November continues to benefit from AHTs recovery. My conclusion so far on the ongoing PCA experiment, if I had gone ‘all in’ in March, I would still be showing a loss … perhaps food for thought 😊 NAI (P.S. for any 'doubting Thomas', contracts for each transaction are available to view, but like poker you would have to ‘call’ and pay to see them!..) . | perfido
12/9/2022 10:15 | Could see £45 is we rise above £40 :-) | casket1
07/9/2022 17:39 | Good day fenners In these troubled times it's best to keep expectations to a minimum. Then one is not disappointed or maybe pleasantly surprised. Good day disc0 You're welcome. It had a look at 4000 but didn't fancy it and scurried back up to 4200 and safety........for the time being. | bracke
