I've been in for 10+ years - I don't hold as many as I used to - 140,000.
The company will be taken private one day at a good premium, but while waiting for that the yield is excellent and the prospects are very good - they are becoming a worldwide brand.

Hi Trovax, that was me, ALY look too expensive to me +20p IMO. TCG looks like hard work to me on a breif look, are you in these? If so why? :)

Someone noted on here the other day:

"Wouldn`t 28p put ALY on a P/E of 30ish?"

Looking at TCG - the P/E ratio for them is about 95 (yield of 6%)

The trouble is with P/E calculations that they are only done on past performance, so if the grass isn't growing much then it is unlikely to change. However LA is a growth stock so a forward looking P/E is a lot lower (assuming today's price of about 17p)

Bobby
I'd manage to average aly down to 15p, got out at 17.75, last friday.
Banked the funds until yesterday!! Bad mistake looking at TCG today, what a differnce a day makes!!
We always live and learn.
I would expect ALY to dip further, moreso cos of strike.
PDYOR IMHO

I've gone into Thomas Cook Group, but this is not a recommendation.

Previously always dipped into Airtours etc, had good returns in the past.

Laura Ashley staff to strike

Laura Ashley staff have voted to go on strike next Friday, over redundancy terms offered to workers at the company's flagship store in Dublin, which is to close.

I sold recently at 18p as like many I assumed that this would fall following dividend date.

I firmly believe in the company and the work that is ongoing.

I'm prepared to risk a little more of a fall prior to getting back in. A great future in this company and much more mone to be made but dont forget nothing goes up in a straight line.

Being out you can get caught out when the rise starts but thats trading for you.

Anybody care to guess a bottom point for this current fall

Food for thought, Great idea philmac, laura ashley sandwiches for lunch,
clean cut ,no crusts, wrapped in linen and twice the price of tesco.
After all, did M & S always do food ??

Nope - just a distortion caused by the end of day auction. An anomaly and nothing else.

I wonder if the MM's have now seen reality and have decided to take ALY up and into the next evel and beyond, to where it belongs with such good results, consisitently, good CEO etc............
