What company has better results than this ? superb, there must be a rerating of this company in the near future? All most unbleivable in my opion. 20 pence a share must be the value of Laura Ashley? What more can one say? I expect it will be slow to rise to that level, time will tell. Still intrim DIVI worth having, I will buy more shares again with the proceeds.

E commerce, rocketed, group profit rocketed, and in this climate


Laura Ashley today announces results for the 26 weeks to 31 July 2010 showing a thriving performance in an uncertain consumer environment with like-for-like growth across all product categories.



Summary

· Total Group sales up 5.7% to £135.1m (2009: £127.8m)

· Total UK retail sales up 5.5% to £121.6m, like-for-like sales up 6.2%

· Increase in profit before taxation including exceptional gains to £10.5m (2009: £1.1m)

· Increase in profit before taxation excluding exceptional gains to £5.7m (2009: £0.1m)

· Exceptional gain of £4.8m primarily due to the sale and leaseback of a freehold property (2009: £1.0m)

· Gross margin improved by 1.4 percentage points due to stronger Sterling and lower levels of promotional activity

· Interim dividend increased by 100% to 0.5 pence per share (2009: 0.25 pence per share)

· Strong Balance Sheet with £31.2m net cash (2009: £10.0m) and a clean stock position

· All product categories showing positive like-for-like sales growth:

o Furniture sales up 7.8%, like-for-like sales up 9.2%

o Home Accessories sales up 5.0%, like-for-like sales up 5.2%

o Decorating sales up 6.3%, like-for-like sales up 7.1%

o Fashion sales up 4.2%, like-for-like sales up 1.6%

· E-Commerce sales grew by 63.0%

So a good set of results, no an exceptional set of results.

i've had to cancel the new car, cos no special 2p divi to larger holders.......... i'll wait a year!!

Lets hope with tthese esults again positive, that share price move on the positive side

You could be right, but it wont stay there long and rocket after that price is filled, it is a general investment stock, with a good divi yearly. This will suit many investors.Me for one ,as I cant be bothered trading anymore at the moment.News should be good very soon now,with internet sales increasing .PDYOR

The mm's tried to push this one up today with an offer after lunch of 13.20
but with no takers they had to let us in at the close at 12.70, nice one

ALY must surely be rerated soon? the cash possition must be strong? I wonder how much more property they own , the market cap is so low, but past record has been debateable. Management seem to be doing a good job, and a nice DIVI every year even in this climate, internet side could be a very strong side to this company in months to come?= less overheads = more profit? AIMHO. Must be News any day now.

I been informed reporting will be close to last years date (from a v reliable source).
So as you suggest, not long to wait, especially for those with a LARGER holding...

LA Published an annual update on 1st Sept 09




Then on 9th Sept 09, published in statement



So, possibly we have not long to wait.

I was hoping for a northaward movement leading up to the release, hope that starts soon!!!
