i doubt an overhang of 37m shares (c.£1.8m) would have created such downward pressure for this length of time, my guess is its bigger than that, bwdik.

On that basis bigglesbingham, there still isn't the buying interest to counter the selling. But I do have to agree with your sentiments about the strength of the company. But it's earning me about the same right now as companies I am not invested in. Frustrating.

perhaps an ii might be tempted to take a position if they see the current price as a significant discount on fundamentals.

say a 20% stake (c.£10m) so perhaps a small/mid size ii without too many mandate restrictions. that would take c.200m shares out of circulation.

no harm in dreaming.

I think it's the estate of the deceased Bruce rowen who held 20m shares. Also Starvest held 17m but said they had disposed of some last year. Starvest ex chairman was Bruce rowen so if Starvest sensed Bruce rowens estate was selling (and you have to assume they are in close contact) they would have known this would put pressure on shareprice and May have been a reason for them to offload some too. All conjecture on my part but that's my view. There has to be a reason to sell related to the sellers situation because the company is in strongest position it's ever been. Note neither party has to declare sells because both are less than 3%.

Sounds about my perspective JAF. I cannot disagree with your reasoning bigglesbingham, but with companies the scale of ANTO going from £6 to nearly £18 today, I do have wonder if I've been too loyal to this stock in expectation of greater returns that have not materialised.

bb, agreed the business outlook here is very strong.

as regards pr around the business and dir deals etc. yes lessons to be learnt but the performance of share price despite the tremendous positive progress in the business suggests there are greater market pressures than just poor pr.

clearly its selling pressure but i don't know why that would be...a possible suggestion (in my previous post) i.e. rise to over 6p last year not yet fully digested.

its possible that one or more >3% holders bought in and did not declare and are now busy selling. given the likely cumulative size of selling that has been ongoing i'd guess its not smaller holders.

The problem is, and I am sure that I am not the only one in this position, can I afford to stay in AAU ? We had a good run up in 2020 which allowed me to sell some losers in my portfolio and I had already taken into account the special dividend. So now I have around £50,000 tied up in a company with huge potential but providing no income and no capital gain. That, for me, is not a viable scenario.

Dixi this rns shows two things the more positive vibe and ability for exploration team to find gold. With the cash in bank and deal done I see this as a short term dividend play and short medium exploration play. The real value here is finding gold and converting these finds into hard cash. This year for me we've got one off divi, Cyprus and salinbas plus others to be declared. They are continually proving themselves to be able to find the gold so now we've cash and partners to exploit salinbas and Cyprus I truely pay no regard to current share price because it will pale into insignificance if they apply their proven 15 year track record into salinbas and Cyprus where there is already proven resource. The kizeltepe and associated projects will throw off cash for many years to provide Regular dividends and cash for exploration. It's a great business plan just want them to reiterate that plan to wider market.

Don't try and apply logic to what's happening here with the share price because that will drive you mad, it is just illogical. Wishful thinking will say that value will out but that's been said for years, beats me but dogged patience keeps me going.

while we look on at the share price with incredulity, a possible explanation is that there were large aggressive buyers at the c.2p level in early 2020 who did not intend a long term investment regardless of fundamentals, or perhaps they did but have changed their stance.

later in 2020 having tripled their stake these then became large aggressive sellers and are continuing to offload whilst still at double or more.

with c.92% of c.1070m shares in public hands its anyone's guess how deep that selling pressure goes.

a more succinct appraisal, the rise to c.6p has not yet been fully digested by the market regardless of fundamentals.

Fantastic keep the good news flowing. This helps mitigate my only real concern which was Q4 production levels. Whoever posted that they bought back in the day before yesterday really did time it well

AKA sh*t loads more au/ag at Kiziltepe:

"The latest work in the Arzu North area proves our understanding that the majority of veins in this area were obscured at surface due to the upper ignimbrite cap rock. This prohibited the identification of mineralisation at surface and suggests that significant mineral potential remains to be tested throughout this area.

Well your getting a lot of company for £50m especially when over half is in cash. The findings are encouraging not because of army north derya but because it continues to show that the exploration expertise here which has never been in doubt is excellent and now we have resources and cash to apply this to salinbas and Cyprus . Excellent

I notice that the latest RNSs are giving a lot more details of the various projects than they used to in the notes to editors. Just what we have been asking for.
