Great post. Funny if it wasn't so true.

Ha Ha - indeed - I guess AAU (probably seen as number 7), in reality, has done quite well - but it's the next jump to keep us entertained that's missing!!

I think that we all have to learn our own lessons the hard way. I am sure that we have all done all or most of the following:

1. Invested in a share that has tanked
2. Invested in a share that has tanked and not cut our losses before it tanks again!
3. Not invested in a share that has soared
4. Not invested in a share that soared even more after we didn't invest the first time around
5. Sold out congratulating ourselves on the 20% rise only to see it subsequently go up ten fold
6. Not sold out when a share topped only to see it collapse
7. (The most common of all). Invest a great deal of time and effort into researching a number of companies before deciding on the one with the best fundamentals. Invest and watch the money stagnate whilst all the others in the sector surge ahead. Scratch head in confusion before ultimately selling in frustration. Share price subsequently soars.

The only real alternative to learning these lessons is to put your money under the mattress.

3.9 and the gap is filled. Maybe after that we might see a bit of reality creeping back to this grossly undervalued equity.

CrossfireCSSF - don't feel too bad, I turned my back on ASC (ASOS) at 4p, at one point I'd have made £7m had I invested. Reality is that if I had I would have still sold out way before that level was achieved.

It is difficult to look from the outside at GGP and see much value there. Those already in are messianic about it of course and can only see the path upwards. However, looking dispassionately at valuations across the gold mining space it is difficult to see on what basis GGP looks comparatively cheap. In fact, it is difficult to value GGP at all as it hasn't got a resource currently. When a resource is finally established it will be easier to judge but the current valuation is factoring in a huge amount of good news.

This is traders who were in it to simply trade. Literally only seen rns and broker note which reiterates rns. The trades today equate to £50k, yesterday was only £380k . Point is we are in a dam sight better position today than Monday if shareprice doesn't fully reflect that then so what it will. I've be saying this for years and the price has risen steadily .

And that is why Kerim has to get value to shareholders in other ways. Sticking it out without a Jv would have meant many more years of this slow grind upwards depending on the gold price. Now we have chance to strike out and just may be we might find some decent asset that warrants a much bigger value. That could be on Cyprus or elsewhere but with Kerims knowledge then who knows, this time next year we could be miwwionaires rodders.

Can AAU, who were always the sounder of the two, reach a similar market cap? Based on experience, not whilst I'm invested in it, but those are the kind of thoughts that you have to bat away. It's a tough gig mentally sometimes this one...

Yes Dixi, I was going to sell half of AAU and stick it into GGP 3 or so years ago. I had a 'gut hunch' when they were looking on the verge of administration at £2m market cap, but didn't move on it. 200+bagger since and I would be sitting on £2million. I try not to think of it...

Suspect aau is one for the long term, problem being there will never be a takeover premium added to the price as the corporate structure is far too convoluted.

Dixi, GGP have what BoJo would describe as a world beating gold discovery in Australia hence the m/cap. They also have unexplored tenements in the same area and Newcrest are in a JV with them to explore the potential. I expect the GGP share price to double from here this year bwtfdik?

Pur is another none producer with a massive mkt cap. Just shows what can happen when you drop on the right piece of ground in the right jurisdiction.

Just browsing around - I was amazed to see GGP at £446m m/cap - no idea how that happened - but it does show the massive disparity in valuations between AIM companies. AAU just seems unable to ignite a fire with investors in the wider community. I have no objections to a spike here, so long as it settles higher each time (if only!!) :-)

I look forward to getting a much better understanding of the Cyprus opportunity and timescales to monetise. Sounds like another big latent asset ready to exploit.

Think it's more like $7m because they end up with 23,5%.

IMO Cyprus has the potential to be bigger for us than Turkey.
Venus Minerals has assembled an extensive geo-scientific database across whole island and includes:
Location and survey information for >5000 drill holes
Thousands of multi-element assays
Regional geological mapping over most of the island
Detailed (1:5,000) geological mapping of most mining districts
ASTER Digital Elevation Model and spectral data
Landsat Thematic Mapper data
Detailed Digital Terrain Model of the whole of Cyprus
United Nations regional aeromagnetic data
DIGHEM aeromagnetic and electromagnetic data
This database, combined with our extensive experience in exploring the island, provides Venus with an excellent opportunity to discover the next major VMS copper–gold orebody on Cyprus.
We have assembled an unparalleled proprietary database across the entire island, comprising thousands of drill holes, thousands of soil samples, detailed geological maps from regional to prospect scale, and a comprehensive range of geophysical datasets, all of which would cost in excess of €100m if replicated today.

Doesn't that five million also get matched by Proccea in 'doing stuff' value... That's how they earn in to their share....

Well aau get 5m usd for selling the first 17pct slug of shares in salinbas which puts a value of 30m usd for it or 25m for the remainder aau hold, aau then get diluted down as the other partners put more and more cash into it but the aau holding should remain as worth at least 25m usd,
