Unless expansion above current planned levels occurs, with limited machine supply as a major constraint, we won't be mining 2k, probably less than 1.5k.

Publicly traded cryptocurrency mining company Hive Blockchain (HIVE) has passed $1 billion in market value as its shares continue to surge amid bitcoin’s parabolic rally.

The Vancouver-based company has a current market value of $1.17 billion at last check with 345.7 million shares outstanding.

Hive first crossed the 10-digit mark in early November 2017 shortly before the cryptocurrency market peaked a month later. For most of the past three years, Hive's market value has stayed below $200 million.

Hive shares rallied over 2,500% in 2020 and have added an additional nearly 40% gain so far in January, currently trading around $3.32. In 2017, shares peaked just above $6.75.

To date in 2021, bitcoin (BTC, +3.63%) has gained over 40% after reaching nearly $42,000 Friday morning.

Coinciding with its soaring market value, Hive has focused expanded its mining operations with the purchase of over 3,000 new mining machines in 2020, with nearly half of that number purchased and deployed in November 2020 alone.

Hive competitors Riot Blockchain (RIOT) and Marathon Patent Group (MARA) both also recently hit the $1 billion market value in late December and early January respectively, per CoinDesk's prior reporting.

Ask yourself:

1) What will the difficulty rate be at $100k bitcoin? i.e 2-3k coins is predicting either the same difficulty level as last month (inc new machine power), or;

2) How will ARB expand significantly, given Marathon have snapped up all Bitmains latest machines for delivery end 2021?

3) What p/e ratio can you apply when the mining machines are only economical for 3-5 years (at max)?

4) What will be the likely price of replacement mining machinery with likely demand from competitors at $100k bitcoin price?

Not saying ARB cannot get to £1bn market cap, but it is not quite as simple as bitcoins mined last month x % increase for new machines x $100k bitcoin. There are more moving variables?

Others have mentioned it and I'm just throwing it in in for discussion.

if it is one of only a few companies mining with BTC hitting the heady heights that some are predicting (massive demand, finite/limited supply etc etc arguments), then rather than "you crazy" why not tell me economically why that figure is nonsense?

I'm happy being wrong, if you'd told me I would 10 bag from initial investment in a few weeks I would have laughed, but hey.....I'm still in this stock as I do believe it will go much higher this year.....

So nico115: if BTC trades over $100k & ARB is chucking off 2-3k BTCs p.a. what EBITDA will it do and how would you value it? I.e. vs Riot for instance?

OR over next 5 years, what EBITDA cumulatively will it do?

Has anyone done a DCF on ARB?

i.e. assuming it chucks off the 2,500-3,000 p.a. at prices of BTC rising in the future, what sort of NPV it would be?

even at 2,000 at average BTC of $100k this could be chucking off at 50-60% margins well over $100m profit ffs no?

And $100k would have seemed bonkers before CHristmas, but the way this seems to be moving "mainstream" and hitting $40k+ today, maybe the big bank's forecasts of $160k etc etc are not far off the mark for 2021?

in which case one can make an argument for ARB to be on a much bigger rating and a billion or more market cap no?

All for discussion, happy to be proved wrong as have made my money here, but always happy to make more!!!

A great week for traders and everyone in ARB. Volume absolute crazy.
Next week Especially Monday will be crazy.
Bitcoin come Monday likely to be 45k. 2pounds ARB next week could be nailed on.
