totally agree. these boards are so good when you have serious and knowledgeable investors contributing. They are undermined when people use them for narrow political views and dogma

Lots of very negative news recently about coal:-

-More and more investors are shunning the sector on ESG concerns.

-Coal usage tailing off rapidly in Europe.

-China now emphasising renewables more and more.

-Greta Thunberg impact on climate change and awareness about fossil fuel pollutants growing and especially with younger generations.

-Eight USA coal companies have filed for bankruptcy this year so far.

An interesting BBC article today headed:- COAL: IS THIS THE BEGINNING OF THE END?

and also a fascinating article in the Wall Street Journal dated 24th. November headed: BETS ON COAL END WHERE THEY STARTED: IN BANKRUPTCY

Agreed the Berenberg notes maps out the declining role of coal and rise of nickel copper iron ore etc the downgrade reflects current pricing of Vanadium as much as coking coal still if he is an investor nice to know that there is someone stupider than the rest of us

Canary in the coal sector??

The share price of sector bellwether Whitehaven Coal (and majority owner/operator of Narrabri coal mine) is now down approaching a massive 50% over 18 months, despite record 2019 f/y results.

Whitehaven share price:-

June 2018 - A$5.78
Today - A$3.00

Whitehaven Coal shares now approaching an astonishing yield of 9%.

COP25 Madrid adds further sector woe and attracts much ongoing media coverage which significantly influences and informs investor opinion and sentiment.

Institutional investors increasingly shun fossil fuel related investments and embrace the growing and compelling importance of ESG investment.

This is my favourite and least worrying investment.

Of course if QP gets voted in as PM I'll start to worry, but since that isn't going to happen I'm happy.

I also think APF will eventually be bought out by one of the Yank companies since the US peers operate on a much bigger multiple, so theyd be buying a well run fantastic asset at (to them) super cheap prices.

Good vote of confidence from Institutional Investor Schroeder's today. Clearly they're impressed by the diversity of APF's portfolio, their well covered dividend, their swivel to a renewable/green energy future and the company's ESG commitment.

Sp nicely up. Que Passa filtered. So boring. Will someone let me know when he has closed his short.

I'd short Whitehaven or many other junior miners rather than a royalty play.
