The interim dividend of 4.25p per ordinary share for the year ended December 31, 2011 will be paid in cash on January 11, 2012 to shareholders on the share register at the close of business on November 11, 2011.

Jeremy Martin C.E.O. of Horizonte said, "This is excellent news for the Company and we are delighted that our target tonnage has been achieved with this new resource estimate at Araguaia. We have converted 39% of the resource to the Indicated category and demonstrated the existence of higher grade zones which are vital for early mine life economics, as shown by the current Indicated Resource of 24.2Mt grading 1.6% Ni using a 1.2% cut-off.

"We believe that the updated resource places Araguaia in the upper quartile of developing global nickel assets in terms of size and grade. Further drilling is planned to convert additional material into the Measured and Indicated Resource categories once the Company has completed the PEA, its next milestone, which will give a range of project economics. We have a strong cash position and project development team, as well as support from a major mining partner which will enable us to drive the Araguaia project forward, significantly adding to the value of the Company. This is therefore a great start to 2012 for Horizonte."

The kestral mine has a reserve of 68 million tonnes and produced us a $41 milllion royality payment.

The Canadian coal assests are must larger - if developed (would take 20 odd years) thier payments could be massive for APF.

Its all fairy tale stuff at the moment however.

Kestral is at the moment a different kettle of fish, a royalty.
We own the CDN. coal at the moment, or at least Groundhog still, but could go to royalty situation some day.
In valuation terms Kestral is valued up to the year end, CDN coal is £2m, historic.

Haydock, to put that into perspective what are the reserves and resources at kestral?

Quite happy to have this in for nowt & only in my dreams of a Highway to the Future !!!
I can see the strict accountancy viewpoint.

APF – Canadian Coal Interests
Groundhog
The Ground hog project in central British Columbia comprises seven coal exploration licences covering 3,900 acres in three groups. Based upon past exploration, the British Columbia Ministry of Energy and Mines quotes the following resources of high ash semi-anthracite to anthracite rank coal:-
1.Discovery.......... 343 million tons
2.Panorama North..... 108 million tons
3.Panorama South..... 218 million tons
The resources are very large but the area is remote and requires major investment for access.

Cheers Hay.

Hi haydock - it's best to only count assets that have been valued using standard means - if there is a commercial asset there at all (BFS, etc). Everything else is for astrology. imo. Trefi has gone (going to be a while before a BFS) and wasn't substantial enough to move the needle.

The majority of the asset value lies in the Kestrel royalty, which has been re-valued. I personally am discounting their stated value by 20% using my own discounted cashflow and future assumptions.

I would also say that look at this over the last 4 years or so - makes more sense, and doesn't look as bad.

Of note also is a string of risks from countries where things are murky or projects are derailed, such as the hold-up with Empire in Albania, Mundo/Engenho falling over, Berkeley/Salamanca etc. In addition - many royalties might have a large number of years before starting to bear fruit.

Seems fair all in all hovering here. All imo.

Having said the above, there's lots of things in the bag. I noticed Maudore, where I would guess a royalty would be imminent, given their holding. John Theobald, our CEO is/was a director there.

It appears they are heading to politically safe climes recently esp Canada/Aus, perhaps the lessons of the last year or so have been harsh.

There has been a significant decline in the APF share price over the past 12 months which is difficult to understand. All seems to be going well on the surface and the dividend yield is around 5% and well covered. Is there anything which I am missing which accounts for this other than general market conditions?

Hi Haydock et al,

Just been looking at the production figures from EVBC in Spain.

For the 6 month period from commissioning in June, through to the end of November EVBC produced a total of:

Gold - 15,428 oz
Copper - 690 tonnes
Silver - 42,782 oz

I would expect that the payment APF received in December would not cover this entire period - perhaps it will relate to the EVBC production up to Orvana's fiscal year end which was Sep 30.

Orvana say that construction of the shaft is on target for completion by April 2012. The shaft "will increase operating efficiency and mill throughput and mineral production".

Orvana are forecasting annual gold production to Sep 2012 of 60,000 oz.

Regards,
Sigala

A new article on the DNi process:

There were no intentions to licence out the processing technology and parties wishing to gain access must either joint venture their nickel laterite projects with DNi or become one of its cornerstone investors.

- which is us via Teck. You can see from the numbers quoted in the report the kind of cost advantage HZM's project will have over other operators should this process work.

Piedro has updated the holdings on his thread.
Any chance of a change in the header please? Current value @£43m.
There was a sale of @£33m from Mantra, so it is not as bad as it sounds.
Regards Hay.

Haywards,

Nice timing. Always good picking these up on a slump. Has done me well over the years. Remember picking up some when it slumped to £1 a couple of years back :-)
