![](https://images.advfn.com/static/default-user.png) On day I started work, Gold was £267/oz Today it is £2,288/oz
If we accept that Gold is a 'constant money' that simply maintains purchasing power over millennia then ones salary, over that same timeframe, would need to have increased by 8.57 times simply to have maintained the same purchasing power as the day i started work. Without going into any further details, I personally have (thus far) managed to keep well ahead of that currency devaluation but for those that started work around 2000 - 2005, things may be so bright. Average Graduate salaries were in the £15-£20k band & Gold averaged about £250 in that period so to have simply maintained exactly the same purchasing power today as when they started work, they'd now have to be earning something like £135 - £180k. Only circa 2% of people in the UK earn £100k+ today yet circa 50% of young people went to university in year 2000.
We're going backwards as a country or rather, the fiat currency everyone labours so hard to earn is going down the drain much faster than most peoples salaries are rising. Little wonder so many people are concluding that 'to work' no longer works. |
Unis - I thought they were meant to separate the best of the best from the rest. Definitely not doing that now. Chose not to go 20+ years ago, and definitely wouldn't today! |
mattjos further education is just another depopulation tactic.. It should be easy to work out why!! |
"Looking ahead to this year, we are focused on delivering rates of production in line with our growth strategy, returning to a regular output at our operating mines and continuing the important progress in our portfolio of assets under development. I am particularly encouraged by the progress at Gilar, where we anticipate first ore extraction later this first quarter, and at Demirli where multiple investigations are underway, with a view to restarting production. Drilling has now also confirmed a sufficient start-up resource for Demirli. I look forward to providing further updates on our progress in the coming months."
Coming months, so not weeks and months. So maybe next update in March? Either way it’s not too far away. |
Matt 74200 looks like a publicity stunt. The 2 Dems who put forward the 'bill' say it's ridiculous, would never happen, and is just to make a point (whatever that might be! Possibly Trump and his lot's efforts to force women who get pregnant by mistake to have the baby? The stunt asks why punish just the woman when that happens?)
Is there anywhere in the world that normal people in the middle of society / politics run things?
Something mentioned on QI years ago was in the early days of democracy in Greece, people were chosen at random from the population to be in charge (although most likely just men back then). A bit like jury duty today. It eliminates anyone who's good at campaigning and getting votes, but useless at running things - i.e politicians !! Eliminates anyone who wants power to serve their own agendas. i.e almost every politician that's ever lived. America doing it's best to change that perception today.... not !!!!!!!!!! |
Hi Bumpa 'this may be of interest to you. The only sad point is they don't tell you to put a pinch of Black Pepper in it !! |
LOL Matt' what world are we living in ? MAD, completely mad !! |
these left-wing morons truly are utterly deranged with the woke mind virus .. there's no way back for many of them, gone completely ga-ga: |
Guys read this article please. Goes to show what people like Milliband are costing the UK people. |
nice one Mj,, thanx for sharing, cheers Wan :-) |
JEMA chart looking very bullish .. i do hold from £1.20 when it was previously JRS (JP Morgan Russian Securities) - prior to the war it was trading at over £8/share. For obvious reasons, not for widows or orphans. I bought £1,500 worth in my SIPP taking the view that all this would blow over and be sorted at some point in time. The world cannot function too well without Russia being a part of global trade.
Here is the chart before it morphed in JEMA:
& since it became JEMA:
Lovely gap down from 566 to 496 on the JRS chart that could now act as a vacuum in the upward moves on the JEMA chart |
🤔 so he thinks it could be a “turn around, where you can make a lot of money”, but it could also be “a PFC where they’ll go to the wall”?
Hedging his bets there eh!
Thanks for posting affc21 👍 |

Bumpa/Pogue,Noticed Mr rhino (he is one of many I follow on X and comes across as very knowledgeable) on x (twitter) with a few comments on WG, which maybe of interest, as copied and pasted below:"Taken a lookTwo things stand out for me 1) too many employees 36,000So revenue per employee is too low !168k Vs 221k£ for Tesco for example 2) EBITDA margin of 7.7% Which is very low So they employ too many people and they don't add a lot of value!""Going forward I think they ll be forced to restructure and find efficiencies, which means this could be a turnaround story! And I like turnarounds as you can make a lot of money! The enterprise value is 750m£ and ebita 350m£ so it appears cheap but it is not! As fcf is negative""I think this could be another #pfc #petrofac where they ll go to the wall and restructure The equity has little value left imho, hence the -55% on friday, and lenders will be forced to take a haircut. But this is a momentum stock, so you could have 50-100% moves Will follow" |
Wan, I hope you join Reddit and do your own research regarding the views of the posters regarding Azerbaijan and the Government there. It will give you an insight into the country. From what I have read there is a large population of Kurd's living in Southern Azerbaijan. I can also speak a bit of Kurdish. Don't forget I visited Kurdistan and did a lot of business there . |
![](https://images.advfn.com/static/default-user.png) Well Wan' I have travelled many countries around the world. Africa, Asia, Europe and the Middle East. In my younger days it was easy. Have a backpack and will travel attitude. Now it is a different story at this age. I don't mind a bit of rough life but I prefer my comforts these days. I may hire a driver and a car when I am in Baku. If my friend from Turkey can't accompany me. I have to plan the time needed in Gedabek and Nagorno Karabakh. Look for hotels to stay overnight etc, etc. 4 days around Baku is enough I suppose and I don't know about Nagorno Karabakh area yet. All the latter part will happen after speaking with Bill. All the rest is up to the Co. if they will allow access to me. I plan anyway to go to Nagorno Karabakh. I don't know if you remember, a couple of my English friends ended up in Nagorno Karabakh accidentally when it was in control of Armenia. They were quickly booted out !! The Armed forces had them with their hands up, until they showed them their passports. From what little they told me about that area it sounded great. I think I mentioned it you in the early parts of you starting this thread. You see the biggest advantage I have is being able to speak X amount of Turkish. |
Dont know who was dumping nor why that adds to the mystery but does explain the low SP, could be a big bounce if that seller is out. |
thanx cmb, I am sure there are a lot of AAZ investors who will be very interested and thankful to hear what you discover ,,, I know I am/will be,,, big thanx, Cheers Wan :-) |
Pogue - you see the trade vol Friday was nearly 2 to 1 in favour of buys, 52m v 27m. Numbers likely to be fairly accurate due to tight spread/high liquidity. So assume someone in the market Friday had the order to dump, at any price. |
Wan' we both have big holdings in AAZ. You most of all. As you know I plan to visit Azerbaijan in late April. Currently I spend time to plan my travel and learn what I can. I was researching if I could visit Nagorno Karabakh area while I was in Azerbaijan. I came across Reddit then and joined it. I suggest you too do the same. I like to do as much research as possible myself before my travels. I am hoping to visit the area around the Demirli Mine site. I was talking to a friend this morning in Turkey . Asking him if he had time to accompany me. He will have a chat with me this evening .
This thread is there to share information about our investment. It is no big deal for me to share any information that I find. |
Pogue, thanks for the analysis/thoughts - I know you have more of an idea on this one than I. Really, the safest/best shorts are where you get an RNS of trouble that comes outta the blue, with no previous, then you have the element of surprise in your favour. This one I guess is just finger in the air territory… |
many thanx for sharing your research cmb,,, that certainly helps to calm that little voice in my head which keeps reminding me about geopolitical risk,, Cheers Wan :-) |
Good afternoon all, Cheers Wan :-) |
