Most important thing is that Basel III represents another step closer towards trues price discovery in the Gold market.Yes, the established players will do all they can to prolong their cozy cartel & price manipulation but, this is certainly going to to add a significant constraint & furthermore, will give regulators an additional stick with which to chastise them when they are caught .. this time it's not just about trading illegally, it will be about that + trading in away that clearly weakens the banks Balance Sheet and adds instability to the global banking system - punitive actions and fines will absolutely increase.The risks of getting caught will dampen down the fraud & therefore the gold price should trend more towards its true value, particularly as physical demand is notably strong and increasing as various Eastern economies and Central Banks renew their buying post-COVID.

I'm intrigued to see if Basel III will make a difference by the end of the month, or will London continue on it's merry way gaming the metal markets until the end of the year? What is the thinking of bringing in Basel III across Europe at the end of June, but giving London until the end of the year to comply? Presumably to avoid some sort of 'cliff' event, but how will it pan out in reality. Some of that "soon" news would be welcome.
