07/8/2020 07:47 | Good morning, Good luck and the very best of health to all today and for those of you living in the UK,,, it's gonna be a hot one,,, possible the hottest ever if it exceeds 38.7C - see below :-) Cheers Wan :-) The highest temperature ever recorded in the UK – 38.7C – has been confirmed by the Met Office. The measurement, taken at Cambridge Botanic Garden last Thursday, was subject to quality control and analysis by meteorologists over the weekend. The previous record of 38.5C was recorded in Faversham, Kent, in August 2003. The recording was taken at a Met Office climate observation site at the University of Cambridge. | wanobi
07/8/2020 07:13 | AVCT has another RNS! Sadly its not that exciting, again, I have got the right share for RNSs this week in the competition though lol, not counting POG which is going mad with holdings ones. SARS-CoV-2 Rapid Antigen Test Clinical Collaboration Avacta and Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine collaborate to clinically validate saliva-based rapid coronavirus test being developed with Cytiva Avacta Group plc (AIM: AVCT), the developer of Affimer(R) biotherapeutics and reagents, is pleased to announce that it has entered into a collaboration with the Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine ("LSTM") to clinically validate the rapid, saliva-based coronavirus antigen test that Avacta is developing with Cytiva. LSTM has been at the forefront of research into infectious, debilitating and disabling diseases since 1898 and was the first institution in the world dedicated to research and teaching in tropical medicine. It has a research portfolio of around GBP320 million and projects and partnerships in more than 70 countries. Under the terms of the collaboration, LSTM will carry out the clinical validation of the Avacta COVID-19 antigen rapid saliva test in their category 3 laboratories on patient samples. In addition to working with the UK government's CONDOR programme to provide Avacta with access to patient samples in the UK, the partnership with LSTM also provides the opportunity to access patient samples in Africa and South America. The higher prevalence of the disease in those regions means that samples for prospective clinical validation studies are more readily available which, if necessary, could be used to speed up the validation process. Clinical validation is the process of evaluating the performance of a diagnostic test using real patient samples. Clinical validation generates the sensitivity and specificity performance parameters which are most often used to define the performance of a diagnostic test. LSTM is currently evaluating the performance of prototype lateral flow tests provided by Cytiva alongside Avacta's ELISA laboratory test using SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus samples, as a precursor to full clinical validation studies. | pogue
06/8/2020 23:54 | Substantial drilling completed at the Gadir and Gedabek underground mines... * 92 core drill holes totalling 4,298 metres were completed in the underground Gadir mine * This work has resulted in defining mineralisation that extends the current Gadir ore body footprint both laterally and down-dip. * These positive results demonstrate the expansion potential of the underground mine at Gadir. * Drilling results give increased geological confidence for the Gadir and Gedabek underground mines | bleepy
06/8/2020 23:04 | Anglo Asian Director of Geology and Mining, Dr. Stephen Westhead, commented: “The Gedabek area continues to deliver positive exploration results and work is ongoing at each target area to piece together the geological picture. Exploration of the near surface gold targets are taking priority with the aim to rapidly develop mineral resources. The geology team continue to be enthused by the results and the drive to develop mineral deposits for production. Work has been difficult in H1 due to extreme wet weather conditions hampering access for equipment and also the management of the Company’s team and its contractors due to COVID-19. I am very pleased with the progress under such adverse conditions and look to expand the work programmes in H2 to deliver further positive progress on the development towards new mines.” | bleepy
06/8/2020 23:01 | Outlook for Exploration in H2 2020 Exploration work is progressing well, according to the overall three-year strategy. Work defining the lateral and down-dip definition at Gadir UG is ongoing. Further evaluation and data reconnaissance of the high-priority ZTEM targets is continuing. Due to the positive results from Ugur SE “deep” high- grade Cu-Ag mineralisation, drilling work continues around this area with two core drill rigs. Drilling activity will be intensified over Avshancli 2 and 3 and Gilar areas. The current exploration areas have been prioritised to those which can be fast tracked into production, so to maximise the potential to add to the company production profile. | bleepy
06/8/2020 22:44 | To me it very much looks like they are understating....and they will over deliver.... Like many from being around here a long time.....I totally endorse jbravo2's post above-- jbravo26 Aug '20 - 19:15 - 38748 of 38754 Yes, it is their usual careful language of underplaying everything. That’s why I’m presuming the whole sort of passing mentions of preparing to fast track to production actually means it’s already decided we’re going to open a new mine as soon as Covid allows | goldrush
06/8/2020 21:10 | Re the share pick, I think as a bit of fun it's perfect for the weekend, and I like the new rules. You have my vote to go ahead on this basis. Wan, I also like your thought for a spot to highlight key points. I was thinking that this would be beneficial in any case. I would just love to hear your sales pitch for AAZ, as an example. Great thread. Well done Wan!! | pantsonfire
06/8/2020 21:04 | I always had an amusing thought that mining under the pit whilst someone is using explosives to extract the rock from the pit an interesting idea. I have no idea if they will stop mining the specific pit, not use explosives or at over 100m below the pit it has no impact. Nothing to do with me investing here just curious ! | thomas11
06/8/2020 20:18 | CNG had its first upwave Wanobi & then an a,b,c zig & zag correction with c being lower than a .... a verbatim textbook pattern.I will be very surprised (& of course disappointed) if it is not trading in the 30's before year end.AS i keep saying, it's the H1 2020 results which will be the main propellant & they are not far away now. | mattjos
06/8/2020 20:08 | Just been reviewing Gedabek again on Google Earth Pro.Gedabek underground is absolutely NOT going to be a small scale affair!JB/FZ & Probably Terropol ... when we stood on top the ridge peering down in to the open pit that morning .. if you recall, we turned 180 degrees to look behind us (as an Azeri gentleman meandered past with his cattle) and it was, oh so casually, dismissed as just an area for dumping waste and of no interest :-)now look at the details contained in the latest news items & then review that area behind the Backwall of the open pit. .. & those satellite images are 12 months old already. The bigger prize at Gedabek has always believed to be underground & under the open pit | mattjos
06/8/2020 19:41 | There has been a bit of discussion over on the ALTN thread trying to compare and contrast between AAZ and ALTN. I am in both now, after flogging off some of my higher risk non productive gold explorers shares in favour of AAZ, cos I'm already fully loaded with ALTN. I do expect AAZ to break higher, but maybe it's not quite ready even with gold surging higher every day. Can't be much longer before AAZ blows. ALTN has had a lovely run over the last year, and that should continue. EUA is of course a hot topic, with many folk confused by the current valuation, but it's all to do with rights to surrounding licenses under Russian law. EUA have 1.9m oz palladium rich resource proven to Russian standards, and mineralization is continuous between the two deposits. The flanks application joins the dots, increases the deposit to 15m oz, and gives then the right under Russian law to adjacent areas, and another 25m oz. So, 80% of 40m oz of palladium rich PGMs and the mkt cap is £450m. UBS is negotiating the deal. EUA vs ALTN vs AAZ What a conundrum to have to decide on weighting...while we wait. | excellance
06/8/2020 19:37 | Another headline might of been: 9) Even though our exploration activity has been minimal over this period at Ordubad due to Covid restrictions we look forward to returning there when possible to continue exploration and follow up on the previously seen grades of 100g/t + at Keleki and Dirnis :) | 1tarquin

06/8/2020 19:32 | I should add to my last post,,,, AAZ and TXP,,, I truly feel blessed to have discovered you and feel as if I really do own part of the business,,, that's how great a job you have done,,, many many thanx cheers Wan :-) | wanobi
06/8/2020 19:30 | as for AAZ management cmb,,, to them,,,, I am truly humbled by your approach to mining and your sincere appreciation of shareholders,,, which is sadly lacking in many other businesses... great job guys and big apologies from me if I have doubted your abilities in the past,,, I had absolutely no right to do so and had a lot of investment growing up to do at the time,,, which I hope I have now managed,,, a bit, anyhow,,, Cheers Wan :-) | wanobi
06/8/2020 19:27 | Thanks - you are right, you have to do a bit of leg work to understand the full scale of things. I've just re-extracted and sorted the Gosha results and they look better now (I only had about 1/3 of the data). There are actually 2 gold intercepts above 15 g/t and copper up to 6%! These are only small length intercepts, but I understand Gosha is more like mining slim veins of high grade ore, rather than bulk tonnage? Overall avg gold was 0.97 g/t with all the results, so not bad, especially if they can cherry pick the high grade veins to follow.. | king suarez
06/8/2020 19:26 | Hear Hear cmb, I could not agree more,,, many thanx to Mj and all on the main AAZ thread,,, it is an invaluable source of research and I would think the best thread on ADVFN,,, cheers Wan :-) | wanobi
