Captain it all depends on your situation but I will say

Miners will make you more money due to the leverage to the price of PMs but physical gold and silver are your insurance against the collapse of the financial system.

If banks go belly up so too will brokerages and good luck getting hold of your share certificates in that situation.

Physical for insurance
Miners for speculation

i'll probably ask the same question on the other thread even though they probably all read both.
If you had a reasonable quantity of fine silver would you:
1/ Cash it in and invest the proceeds in miners.
2/ Take possession of the physical (leaving it where it is would have the same effect in theory) and sit on it for the rainiest of days.
ps replies from all posters are welcome.

Goldman today up their Gold & Silver price targets.

From $2,000/oz & $22/oz to $2,300 & $30/oz

They couldn't predict the next morning sunrise. Nothing but Bearish at $1,050 five years ago & now, after an 80+% rise they are suggesting folk grab hold of to protect themselves from the coming fiat currency collapse.

I don't think it will be too much longer now before commentators start advising people in the USA to no longer keep their fiat currency in the bank.
Then we'll see Gold properly get into gear

Yes gold manipulation at its best today.
So anyone wanting to buy the dip was shut out.
I think the spread better companies are getting a right pounding by gold and silver traders.

BTC / ARB

The rise in BTC over the weekend was mostly driven by this piece of news from last week:-

Bitcoin Deemed ‘Money’ Under D.C. Financial Services Law

$1950 gone again.

It seems to have shrugged off the attempted sell-off to $1900 well.

My guess is there will at least be a push to $2,000 proper and then a drop back.

$74 peak to trough of todays Gold candlestick. Amazing.
It's probably going to close around flat on the day.
Some big hesitation being shown in the current trend

Yes you are correct.
So it shows how difficult it is to trade.
There is a skill to it,but most people including myself are not up to it.

as interest rates go negative, the US prints more and more $'s and investors start to realise that the standard fund managers view of holding just 10% of their portfolios in Gold, as a so called insurance policy for when things go wrong,,, no longer stacks up and they can make real capital gains on Gold & miners,, they'll surely increase from 10% to say 50% or their porti's in gold/miners,,,, then we'll be off to 3000 and higher one feels :-),,,, this could get very interesting indeed and possibly financially life changing for those in the right place, right now, with the right number of chips on the table :-) we shall see, but the more I read, the more I hear the more promising it looks for gold,,,,, quite what that means for the world in general I have no idea.... Cheers Wan :-)

Welcome aboard. I have no idea how much leverage to expect with ARB compared to any increases in BTC but I expect it to be much more than you get with a gold miner compared to the gold price. ARB is also very cheap compared to similar sized miners like HUT8.

I tend to agree with Matt...can see a time in the not too near future where gold mining is regarded as pretty essential to the national interest

What I think is great about this situation is we have Erris, Scotgold, Dalradian & others who have come to conclusion that there are significant quantities of Gold on the Orogenic terrain that runs across Caledonia into N.Ireland and then S. Ireland.

I would suggest that at least one of these companies will get a mine up & running by the time we have completed our drills & that will then open the door for us and others. The 'Blueprint' for gaining the mining licence will have been created just a bit ahead of us & therefore greatly assist our application & also greatly increase the value of the assets in-ground.

There is going to be a mini Gold-rush into this part of the world

Do they think they are just going to dig a big hole and sacrifice the first born to the Gold gods?
