US Household Savings rate went above 13% for March, up from 8% in February, the highest level since 1981.

What will it be for April?
Much nearer 20% I expect, possibly even above that.
Similar story across the developed world i guess, all so dependent upon consumer [debt] led growth.

Though it will likely come back down fast as lockdowns are lifted, I'll bet it remains stubbornly above 10% , come the recovery that will be a tedious, drawn out affair i expect.

Worth considering that Japan's SR has kept on coming higher over the decades and years.
Over the past decade, the lowest annual rate was above 22%.
It was 29% over 2019, with a spike to 59% for December.

Hopefully DMTR DeepMatter :)

AAZ certainly is a frustrating share but tucked away for the divvy and the eventually hike in price..or the hoped for buyout ;)

With POG now firmly below 1700 i suspect there will be a few sellers of gold stocks tmw. Not sure what has caused the weakness ? AAZ could get cheaper in the run up to results which might provide a further buying opportunity for those with money to spend .Still the hot money is chasing COVID stocks. Which one will it be tomorrow ?

Solution
Lockdown for those with underlying conditions and Tommy tuckers = 95% plus of fatalities
Let the rest roam free. Get the pubs open so I can have a proper beer or 9

Unfortunately,,, I have to say Bumpa that I am deeply concerned that some EU countries (and I sincerely hope we don't end up being another) are coming out of lock-down too early and too haphazardly right now,,,, fingers crossed they have it right and I am wrong.... cheers Wan :-)

Hope this is isolated and not something more.

Just talked with a friend whose daughter was in hospital in Madrid for a none too routine operation, they’ve already sent her home to recuperate under strict instructions as advised by the hospital that the situation with cv-19 has take a turn for the worse.

avsome - have a look at their drug pipeline and see what you think, I’ve highlighted one that could be particularly interesting under the current circumstances. There is also the interest in the anti TIGIT antibodies, the reason this caught the imagination a week or so back in the US. As I outlined elsewhere though, you got Link Fund Solutions getting shot of Woodford’s holdings and I’m assuming Invesco, Woodford’s former employer too.

I’m holding a small position, out of interest more than anything, I’d usually get rid of a failed trade but this I’m gonna see what develops.

Wan,thank you for pointing me to the gap !! I don't hold any shares in 4D.
If it a momentum gap then it won't get filled. Time always answers the question.
AAZ, well let's see what Bill has to say at the back end of May. It is the PSA that concerns me. The BOD are great no doubt about that but let us be honest with ourselves we are in a country that has a Dictator in power. Let's see how things pan out.

""hyperinflation has gone from the worst-case scenario to the most likely scenario""

""When you create money, you are creating inflation. Now, that inflation will manifest in various ways. I mean, when the stock market went up a lot, when the real estate market went up a lot, it was inflation that was driving those price increases, not the real increase in the value of the businesses, but the nominal price. And prices are going to rise. The Fed is putting money into the economy at a time where production is actually going down. What’s happening as a result of the coronavirus is businesses are not operating. Goods are not being produced. Services are not being provided. Yet, we are creating more demand by flooding the economy with freshly printed money. You’re just focusing on certain prices. Yes. Airline tickets are down. Nobody is flying. OK. Gas prices are down. Nobody is driving. This is only temporary. But look at what’s happening to other prices. They’re already rising. And they’re going to rise even faster in the days, weeks and months ahead.""

Cheers
Wan :-)
