I feel that all the Brexit damage is already in the value of the £, but if I'm wrong then divi's in the $ are fine by me. It would be quite interesting if we got a hardline 'Brexit' PM who declared that May acted beyond her powers, and that we have already left as of last Match! That would be interesting. Not going to happen off course, not one of them has the courage, despite that it would be the saving of the Tories from the cheekie chappie.

A perfect storm for AAZ share holders. Just need gold to break upwards now.

very true brasso.

Remember that in early 1985, £:$ dropped as low as 1.04.

Since 2008, the £ has lost 40% of its value against the $ & the chart is hardly inspiring right now.

We're currently at £1 = $1.271 so, the imminent 4c dividend equates to 3.147p per share but, with UK politics in complete mess & BREXIT deadline pushed back to 31stOctober, I can only see continued weakness in the £ against the $ through to Halloween.

The entitlement data for the 2019 interim dividend will be before the BREXIT deadline so, am expecting the £ to be as weak or weaker then, as it is now.

Cash flow and dividends support a £1.50 share price this year, imo & that will be All Time High for the shares with no previous points of price resistance to fret about.

POG & exploration results are the two big factors that should provide upside over and above that £1.50 level.

The shares offer investors a useful hedge against the woes of BREXI and the resultant £ weakness, protection from the inevitable next global recession & growth in the underlying business itself.

A weak pound during the first week of July would be nice. Perhaps the Tories will oblige!

With the high likelihood of the Tory party electing a pro-Brexit leader it would be logical to expect further weakness of the GBP in the short term. Just another reason to keep hold of your AAZ shares paying a dividend in USD.

Good evening all.
Wan, just wanted to tell you to keep plenty of dry powder by Oct. Brexit will bump the market down IMO as I can't see many options for who ever may be the new PM.

Bumpa, some very good posts by you. I don't have L2 or the knowladge you have about daily trading.Regarding the crashes I think I have been through 3 memory does fail me these days LOL. I do OK on some stocks that fall,so far GMS,and METRO I am waiting to see what happens with MTL. Usually around £8/10K bets with the ones I see as OK. MTL
was £4K. Even if MTL goes bad I will still be in profit with GMS and METRO profits this year. Two or three like these do me well over a year with my pension.

there you go Wan, I believe you don’t earn your stripes at this game until you’ve come out the other side of a crash - so a decade of new investors will likely be lambs to the slaughter when the next one hits, whenever that may be.

Benjamin Graham was born in 1894 in London, UK. When he was still little, his family moved to America, where they lost their savings during the Bank Panic of 1907. Graham attended Columbia University on a scholarship and accepted a job offer after graduation on Wall Street with Newburger, Henderson and Loeb. By the age of 25, he was already earning about $500,000 annually. The Stock Market Crash of 1929 lost Graham almost all his investments and taught him some valuable lessons about the investing world.

HL now shows the proper yield for AAZ...I expect more buying now as it's an attractive 5.94% for amateur divi hunters like myself

No Wan, not a “manic depressive on crack”, merely “on crack”.

As for Benjamin Graham, you may want to read up on how he did in the wake of 1929.

STCM - once this overhang clears, no reason to me why the share price could not rapidly head up to test 80p as it has done in the past :-) LOL cheers Wan,,,, we shall see :-)

now Bumpa, that takes it to a whole new level, Mr Market; 'a manic depressive on crack' :-) LOL cheers Wan

no offence intended to anyone suffering with manic depression, those addicted to crack or those, indeed, who are suffering and addicted - my heart goes out to you & your struggle, keep battling, take things day by day, every small step forward is a leap towards your recovery. cheers Wan

Interesting week that wasn't it, not many expected to be able to buy at 89p so well done #Brasso, top slicing at 100p was the trade there and back in again.

It was a lot to ask to stay over 100p on the 1st attempt since IPO, key thresholds often need a few attempts to breach and hold but that day is coming isn't it, the company gets more valuable every day as the cash spin off rate is maintained.., how it gets accounted for we will find out too but as #KS has indicated changing accounting practices/methodology needs some approval inside a PSA..

Looking forward to Spangle's next note and see what they make of the H1 results which are just 6 weeks off now..

YTD POG is still ahead of FY2018 USD1297:1265 so far..
More GEO's, higher POG, and higher revenues are not going to result in less progress or profit are they using the same business model.. ..

STCM - for all us newbies, this page is well worth a read, written by Claire Barnes in
January 2014.... Apollo Investment Management Ltd is the investment management company started by Claire Barnes and they have a currently reported stake in STCM - Apollo Asia Fund Limited 23,933,789 shares, 10.93% 23 Oct 2018...…

I particularly like this reference;

We value businesses as would a long-term private buyer, and generally ignore the short term views and price influence of other market participants, except in so far as these create opportunities. In Benjamin Graham's classic analogy, the investor is in business with a manic depressive partner, Mr Market, who obligingly sets a two-way price every day. Most of the time, the investor will listen to Mr Market, politely decline to take action, and get on with real life. Sometimes however, Mr Market's price is wildly in excess of any intrinsic value, and the investor may take these opportunities to sell, perhaps even to retire. At other times Mr Market's price is ludicrously low; we have at times in the past been able to buy good businesses with honest management for less than their net cash balances. At such times, the sober investor will buy, without worrying unduly about whether Mr Market's price may be even lower tomorrow.

In a nut-shell, that's my goal here :-)

Cheers
Wan

good action today & a lovely Daily Candlestick to end the week on. Should be an up week next week & another crack on £1 level coming. Another week closer to the dividend and to data from ALS on the Ordubad samples.

Enjoy the bank holiday weekend all
