Quite apart from the metrics of the business, this recent visit very clearly highlights the 'fringe' benefits that AAZ have bought to Azerbaijan. From zero at IPO, the company is now a net employer of over 1000 people in an are of Azerbaijan that has few prospects for job seekers. It is very clearly contributing to the governments gold reserves (a stated govt long term intent) & it is pulling in knowledge-transfer from the U.K. to Azerbaijan.& this from a company with a CEO who not only owns 30% of the business but, also who has lent the company $3.9m of his own wealth to see it through a tough patch. Be honest all .. who does not have both a great sense of admiration for Mr. Vaziri? This is a company that is sharing its success all along the journey. How many other AIM miners can anyone here even suggest act as philanthropically? It should be applauded & reflected in the mkt cap

Gedabek development
• Quote from London mine adviser after visit to mine in October 2017: “Gedabek Town: There is so much more going on in Gedabek than there was. The town is totally transformed from the desperate poverty-stricken village it was when we first visited in 2004. Hundreds of new houses, offices and shops opening in the area highlight the multiplier effect of wages of the mine combined with contracting businesses and the entrepreneurship of the local people. Gedabek can be held up as a leading example of how mining can reinvigorate the most depressed of local economies.”

Thanks JBravo.

You must have gleaned a lot of insights getting right up and into
the workfaces Terropol.

Is there much in the way of water to pump out of the tunnel?

Well if you want 'em, you want 'em.
Back in August you were sweating a drop down to 24p or something. You could buy under mid etc. I had 'em.
Buys here, at ANY price this week, next week whatever, you tell me why it won't be higher, way higher, in 12 months.

I was hoping to buy a few more next week as i'm on holiday. Looks like i might not get chance to buy any under 34p now !

@2sporrans
There are loads of resources to get a better idea of the geography etc.
Apple maps are useful, if a little out of date. i.e. the open pit is small but when combining it with the pic supplied to day you can see whats happened (the roads are still the same). The 3D function gives you an idea of the topography better than many of the 2D drawings.
Also there are some pics on panoramio, mapio etc dotted around the net taken by locals or even some of the staff. Pics on site, just off site etc.
All will help orientate you.
It does look from the mine map today as if the high wall is now actually at the peak of the mountain. If that is so, every further push back after that would actually be smaller as it progress down the hill the other side.

that's a 30-40T Doosan tracked excavator in the picture at Ugur .. going to shift a lot of materials quickly & the ore looks more like an aggregate than a hard rock

The high wall is sort of at 10 o'clock on that pic from the presentation today. Well sort of runs in a straight line from 9o'clock to 12 o'clock.
The arrow pointing from "Gedabek open pit" runs right over it. The rock is sort of grey in colour in that pic.
That is basically the mountain they're digging into. Well actually just removing!

Harkening back to the 5th October and that article 'leaking', amongst other revelations, this:
".....Further work is ongoing to plan the extraction of the push back of the high-wall to allow mining to continue in the pit for around another seven years in addition to the two or three which are currently accessible."

With reference to today's presentation and page 8 aerial view of the main pit + vicinity, would some kind poster clarify for me as to where the high-wall is situated?

I'm noting that Gadir lies to the North.
The town is to the East and South; not a few houses close to the pit boundary, a few maybe within 100m.
Potential need to buy the land + properties?

No big deal in context of 9-10 years of continued open pit mining; there's plenty time to plan and execute the extension.
Just curious.

its a pretty simple chart pattern right now ... & unsurprisingly very little buying required at/below the line to see then price move upwards.

folk don't seem to have any patience. The price drop was insignificant and they never really dropped the price at which you can buy the stock anyway.

Stock is extremely thin above 34p.
Small volumes will move it up, or down, quite quickly.
They accumulated a little from the move up and down this week but its still far from the volumes supporting under 30p.

I must admit I thought there would have been less than a week between the Q3 production and Operations update, considering they were released together previously

Happy to wait a few extra days though to get a good one!

It's minor (miner!?) news though lets be honest matt.
The tidbits of extra stuff that haven't been seen before are certainly known about by the most informed on this thread already.
Anyone unaware certainly wouldn't see that presentation for the first time and think, "oh thats an interesting map/mine diagram, I'll invest"

You need far more obvious signposts for that.
The Q3 update was fine.
The next will be something like, ops update, exploration update, refinancing news.
Thats the sort of stuff some of the more challenged of the investing community understand.

If the colour blue signifies Gadir style ore then it’s no wonder they have driven that tunnel toward Gedabek. Probably ops and dev rns will give more detail and potential.

I note Bittibulag has a big black blob on map.

Yes, more detail on pages 14 and 17 as noted by Matt and JBravo.

Never seen the Gadir->Main pit tunnel [4*4m !] depicted like that. Like to know what the wee side passages are for [apart from vehicle manouveres] and even more curious as to what the coloured blocks - esp. below main pit, where tunnel ends, in the bottom right diagram represent.
Given the bigger black blobs signify important resource, wonder what/when is planned for Ertepe and Maarif.
