BHP who have the money and the firepower is way ahead of AMC who seem to be coming late to the party:

BHP Billiton is expanding its business as a supplier of battery minerals at its nickel refinery in Western Australia, planning to start producing nickel sulphate next year and looking at cobalt output as well, a company executive said.

“Part of our transition to becoming a global supplier of battery materials means we have started looking at cobalt options as well,” Eduard Haegel, president of BHP Billiton’s Nickel West refinery, said on Wednesday at a battery materials conference in Shanghai.

“We see cobalt as remaining in short supply ... For this reason we are looking to broaden our support of the battery sector by increasing our contribution to cobalt supply.”

BHP is advancing plans to potentially double capacity at its nickel sulphate operations to 200,000 tonnes, depending on industry demand, which would create the world’s largest nickel sulphate plant at Nickel West, he said.

It seems to me what many posters are struggling with, the commodity prices could treble, the amount of resources could treble will make very little difference in the share price, in my opinion it is all about funding and how are Amur going to pay to get the stuff out of the ground.

All I see is more and more dilution of Amur shares.

It seems the best thing the management can do is to offer 50% of the license to a big mining company to pay to get the mine into production.

7.01 now! How sad are we! Nickel can go a long long way from here, and unlike previous rallies, this is not just cyclical, but we have a structural shift in demand yet to come through. I expect double figures to become a long term price for the good stuff. LME sulphate Market will be talked about towards end of this year and launched Q1/2 next year. All perfect timing

Nickel inventories dropping and price smashing through twelve month highs..... and in the main the EV demand is not expected to start kicking in until 2020. When the market wakes up to this we could well be sat with a JV or some funding visibility. The numbers in the latest Edison report could be quite markedly higher, with lots more nickel and quite possibly a nickel price that surprises many at how high it goes.

I remember the CEO of Cable and Wireless Communications buying upwards of £1m worth of shares at a time. After 4 years he had bought, with his own money over £8mln worth of shares and I followed suit buying as many shares as I could afford and made a good profit.

I wouldn't do his job for that reward. The options are where the award is imho. Or quite possibly a serious salary if we get this all the way to sulphate production, when this mine could be making serious cash

Tad, it is cheaper to buy the shares in the open Market then take the options.

Mad, he does very well considring this is an AIM Co, not a FTSE 350.
He is not bending backwards to buy big amounts either.Chicken feed in IMHO.

RNS got a guaranteed £5000 director buy of shares monthly. Not much but I suppose it helps.
Trump nullified any further antirussian sanctions so should help here unless naughty.

Well I'd guess they are getting some non exec fees but not huge amounts for sure. Even RY is quite low paid when you look at median salaries of FTSE 350 ceo
