17/3/2010 09:14 | Very odd. Back down this morning, but cannot find any reason for these movements. Any ideas??? | martynm
16/3/2010 19:47 | Well that's a turnup for the book - share price closed above the bid price! That usually suggests the possibility of a counterbid. Surprised there has been no comment. Any CUK holders out there or have you taken the money and run? | jeffian
04/3/2010 11:30 | Accept offer recommendation from Growth Company Investor | investinggarden
03/3/2010 13:58 | Out at 444. Been in since 2003 (at 126). Been a bumpy ride. No point waiting longer for 450. No counter offer likely. Bye. | riskier
03/3/2010 09:12 | Indeed. I think they got it at a good price. I'm not complaining though. Farewell all, its been quite a ride. | psolomons
03/3/2010 07:41 | 450 it is... The board of Warwick Bidco and the Independent Directors of Care UK are pleased to announce the terms of unanimously recommended Proposals for the acquisition of the entire issued and to be issued share capital of Care UK. Under the terms of the Proposals, each Care UK Shareholder holding Care UK Shares at the Scheme Record Time will be entitled to receive 450 pence in cash per Care UK Share. | riskier
16/2/2010 10:28 | Hold recommendation from Growth Company Investor | investinggarden
22/1/2010 15:45 | Still treading water waiting for news. Some largish trades today but no sign of a company statement. | psolomons
18/1/2010 09:01 | Think it was you saying "this week" which implied it was coming/being paid. But just a use of words difference. Not a problem. | grahamburn
18/1/2010 07:50 | Sorry you find it misleading grahamburn but it seems pretty clear to me. If you hold the shares on wednesday you get the dividend. Yes, it is paid at a later date but thats what all dividend paying companies do. | psolomons
17/1/2010 21:27 | Slightly misleading, psolomons. According to ADVFN Financials page it goes ex-dividend this week (20 Jan), but it is isn't paid till 17 February. | grahamburn
17/1/2010 21:10 | Dividend this week everyone. | psolomons
13/1/2010 10:11 | I notice Care UK have been invited to tender for the contract to run an NHS hospital. Its clear the company has a very bright future indeed. The care homes business looks to be thriving, now they are being considered for running major health services. ----- Five private sector operators (including Care UK) have been listed alongside Addenbrooke's Hospital in Cambridge for what could become the first private sector takeover of a district general hospital. The five have been shortlisted, alongside the Cambridge NHS foundation trust, to take over the running of Hinchingbrooke hospital in John Major's former Huntingdon constituency. The winning bidder is likely to be given a seven-year franchise. | psolomons
11/1/2010 09:04 | I think we might hear something soon. More like done deal though not bidding war. Presumably there will have to be a shareholder vote though. | psolomons
11/1/2010 08:33 | I would be hoping for a bidding war!! | deeppockets
10/1/2010 18:53 | If that's so, it's an argument for not accepting such a 'low' bid isn't it?! Private equity make their money because the market has no vision and is obsessed with short-term profit. | jeffian
10/1/2010 17:18 | add, the papers also ran another story which shows what smart operators Bridgepoint are. They bought pets at home for £250M 6 years ago and are in discussions now to sell for £800M having turned it around. The other option is to float the company which would raise mega millions. If they get Care UK for £275M I can see a similar return. | psolomons
10/1/2010 08:18 | This was in the FT yesterday. Care UK improved 2.9 per cent to 423p on rumours that the care home operator is still in talks with two potential suitors. So it must be Bridgepoint and someone else. Could get interesting ! | psolomons
08/1/2010 19:24 | High volume and some big trades going through today. Looks like the business end of things to me, anyone got thoughts ? | psolomons
05/1/2010 17:35 | Still no news then although I notice from the 2.10 announcement today that Bridgedpoint appear to be dealing in the companies shares. Could they be expecting to make money from a rival bid ? | psolomons
03/1/2010 05:07 | I see Care Uk has been tipped as one of the 10 shares for this year in the Sunday Telegraph. Their deputy city editor Laurie Holmes says he expects an improved bid from a private equity firm and speculates that a rival offer may be forthcoming. He also quotes the recent Panmure note in which they call Care UK a 'highly cash generative business with an unrivalled position across the UK health care sector'. Bit of a 'no-brainer' to tip CUK since we know the interest from bridgepoint. Bit of lazy journalism I reckon but good to see in this case i suppose. | psolomons |
