Hi jeffian, well the board met over a week ago and we have heard nothing yet so we are due an update,my guess is early New Year.

I wonder if this will be sorted out before the dividend is paid on the 20th of Jan. I wouldn't have thought bridgepoint want care uk to pay millions of cash to investors just before any take over. Surely you secure the take over and save the dividend money.
Happy new year if there is anyone else out there. I suppose its tempting to take profit now as the run has been stellar and the downside could be painful. For what its worth i'm hanging on. Think i'll keep reading the FT, their private equity reporter seems to know what's going on !!

Interesting couple of lines in the FT today. It says the Care UK board met last friday to consider TWO offers for the company. It says Bridgepoint are the favourites with a bid of £275M and that an announcement is expected some time THIS week. I would have thought that the company would have said something if the bids had been rejected so it looks like the deal is on.
Nice for Christmas !

There we are, they clearly were working on it. I like the line saying the company had received a number of approaches. Sounds like a potential bidding war !!

Wow, what a recovery from that recent dip. Seems its going one way, I would reckon the company will have to say something soon. Perhaps there's a bidding war, either way the company will want to show shareholders a decent premium as part of any deal.

The price is all over the place. I don't think the MMs know whats going on either. Is the deal on or off, how many bidders and what's the price.
Confusion and uncertainty leads to volatile share price movements. Glad there is someone else here though grahamburn !

It appears i'm talking to myself again ! however very interesting movement over the last couple of days. Contrary to my thoughts recently there appears to be something afoot.
Don't forget CUK was a less impressive company mid 2007 when the price was over 800p. There is definitely value here and I wouldn't be surprised if more than one company was showing an interest.

Interesting speculation in the FT (see below) a couple of weeks ago that a US company was also looking at CUK.
Can't say i'm surprised the more I look at the company the more attractive it looks. Bit like beer and women I suppose !!

NOV 18th

Care UK rose 2.2 per cent to 366½p on talk that it might have attracted a bid from a private equity group. Care UK received and rebuffed an offer from Bridgepoint Capital in September, but the company remains in an offer period. The talk in the market was of interest from a US fund.

I agree Shroder. One thing is for certain, dealing with old people is definitely a growth area and care uk look to have a very solid business model. Very attractive take over target I reckon looking at the fundamentals and the latest results.

It wasn't favourite to happen anyway, I think the board made that clear.

The growth here is still very good in a sought after sector, CUK may still attract interest from other parties now that the flag has been raised.
