A Bond villain, yes that's him to a tee Bun. At this very moment, deep inside the extinct volcano he is plotting the downfall of Brian and Jay.

I predict that next week he'll be in full scuba gear. He's just finished an underwater inspection of the offshore acreage. Jay just stayed in the hotel.

I think of Neil Ritson as a 007 style character. Exotic locations, smooth tongue and always got the right outfit to match - whether it's work wear out in the field or a sharp shirt and tie after coming out of a meeting with the energy minister.

I hope the next video is of Neil at a downtown Dar Es Salaam nightclub, a bit sozzled, a young black lady on each arm, wearing a hawaiian shirt and those trademark shades inside while grooving tipsily to Picky by Joey Montana (the Akon remix). A man for all seasons!

blackgold, wouldn't get too excited about the BLVN trade, the explanation is over on that board - le commissaire is involved with a S African fund management coy.

"but will it get there before the licences expire/aren't extended?"

well its a bit like the chicken or the egg scenario, those putting up the refinancing program and/or a farm-in, both wants assurances licences are sound and extended, likewise TPDC wants assurances that if licences are renewed extended etc, then the work obligations can and will be met. so it seems to me that with all the negotiations, there has had to be a slow coming together at which point a mutual beneficial agreement can be met.

So which came first, chicken or the egg? of course they had to both come at the same time.

Yes, but will it get there before the licences expire/aren't extended? I suspect yes, but clearly the other possibility exists too!

1) Finance
2) License extension

Both are going to be like winning the Lottery

Says Ritson, "We HOPE to drill by the end of the year" but "a few things have to come into place" - you're not kidding, Neil!

Blackgold

I just have a hunch (nothing more) that the licence extension is the thing the farmout is waiting on.

Would explain both the confidence of the board that there will be imminent (HAH) drilling and also the Malcy comment about the BLVN deal not being dead.

I actually hope not though as I would rather keep the Ruvuma share that we have.

But I will live with it if it gets to early proving up of over 1TCF.

edgar, the NR podcast must had been filmed yesterday i think, given the release time of vid 10.45am and him saying that they were 100 miles north at Songo Songo in the morning. so hopefully the jolly sight seeing yesterday and the JB/TPDC meeting today to finalise and agree on work program and Ruvuma licence, positive news Thurs/Fri then. here's hoping anyway.

Now Neil Ritson has a lot of critics but you'll never hear anyone have a pop at his business casual field dress sense. This is a man who knows how to pack.

White action slacks, blue short sleeved shirt to stay cool, your trademark shades and a red hard hat to protect you from all that gas.
