The Calao drill is one smart move, either a standalone structural closure offering 30~50ft net pay (2mmbo conservative) or benefits from combo trapping as at Indico and / or LS3 connectivity - a far, far larger prize.

Indico was big but this could be a defining drill.

I am curious as to the timing and subtext of the Grauniad story. Val dug up a remarkably similar narrative in a local Columbian paper two or three years back and we thought then that there was a subtext to it related to FarcInteresting that the Grauniad should've dug up and printed this whilst largely ignoring far greater and more urgent issues in Venuzuela unless that is, the purpose is to tarnish Amer ahead of any reconstruction work there? One can only speculate of course but, even so qui bono?Q

Social media push not accidental; finally we're close to lift-off in Put-8. Could be an announcement on the drill programme any day.

General consensus seems to be that if the Calao-iPad successful, it'll be a 2nd rig for Sol, so quite poss there could be three concurrent drills in progress before the first May bank holiday.

chrysallis99, yes I do trust him. I would suggest if you haven't made your mind up now wait until all the indico drills have been completed and all the other drills with OXY and also wait until a few more drills have happened at mariposa. Then if we're at above 10,000 bopd maybe you have the trust your asking about. Good luck. Or maybe wait until we're on 20,000 bopd just to be safe. Hope that helps.

The question is can you expect to buy the shares and make a profit, I'm happy with the risk/reward ratio especially as they now have 3 decent partners in their blocks.

I sold out of Amer in mid 20s for a loss several years ago. I see JW still promising the Earth, production is less than it was back then, but also see some genuinely interesting looking deals. Difficult one to weigh up. Can you trust the JW/Clarke cabal?

Looks like a video from last year from CEO of Gran Tierra but interesting points regarding Putumayo especially the link with fields in Ecuador and changing from trucking oil to needing pipeline by sounds of things.
