31/7/2008 13:20 | I can understand selling the warrants as they run the risk of expiring worthless. The 2007 Annual Report (pg 11) states "....our investment portfolio will continue to be realised as fair value is achieved and liquidity opportunities arise..." However, I'm really not sure about the timing of selling a holding after it has fallen by 25%+ and on a 20+% discount to NAV. Perhaps as ilancas says, they need the cash. Perhaps for one of their investment banking activities? Still on my watchlist but not so sure now. | not manu
29/7/2008 16:23 | Well there are plenty of mining co's out there who require finance (AGU for example) and a lot of firms are trading at very reasonable valuations so AMBR could go out and buy a few stakes if it feels so inclined. I still have these within my folio, along with GPM, and also AYM (who AMBR have a holding in). | marky4
29/7/2008 15:30 | I still have these on watch. Raising more cash by selling off their holdings in GPM. Hmm, if they actually go out and buy something with it, I'd be inclined to believe the management.........o | labradortrough
29/7/2008 13:28 | They must need the money then. | ilancas
24/7/2008 16:07 | When you have another look, find out about the Canadian coal which is in for nothing: and be aware that the royalty on the Queensland coal has been increased in a year or so by act of State law!!!! | haydock
24/7/2008 14:17 | I have borrowed the Ambrian website note for APF & CEY, many thanks Fordtin. I wonder what they will buy next? Used to rate them along side APF, but there is only one winner in that race these days, so I have departed at a loss after years & added APF, which has already of course done the shopping, & unlike AMBR has only six men & a part time lady in Aus to feed. Regards to all, always watching. H | haydock
24/7/2008 10:56 | Certainly is fordtin. I have been waiting for a good opportunity for the last few years to invest some of the kids savings and i am getting very close. The only problem i have is the number of companies now falling within my buying criteria. There are some cracking buys at the moment, particularly within the mining sector following the recent pullback. A small holding in Ambrian will certainly be considered. | chrismcglone
24/7/2008 10:45 | This is falling off the proverbial cliff. Back to Golden Prospect day prices. | chrismcglone
16/7/2008 12:41 | 25p! jeepers, turn your back for a day. can't be far off of the cash value now, with the investments thrown in for free. i used to have jlp and kmr too, see they have really tanked over the last few days. i take it anyone holding junior mining shares, of what ever quality, are taking a right good laceing. | drago
11/7/2008 22:53 | instead of using all their cash buying back their own shares they should go on a junior mining shopping spree! jubilee platinum is half the price they sold at a while back. also go buy some miners like Kmr , Mercator gold , hambledon mining ,more NPE ,Minco ect ect ect!but i would say that holding a few | surfer2
11/7/2008 10:38 | Unfortunately the directors can't purchase any shares currently, or buyback further amounts, because they are now in the closed period upto interims in September. | neg
11/7/2008 10:28 | no one knows the assets and cash position better than the directors. would be surprised if they let an opportunity like this pass. a 2p divi at this price would be a hansom yeild for the income investor. | drago
10/7/2008 21:29 | Perhaps the Dirs are waiting for an upturn in the mkts before cancelling the shares?. That would create a one-off opportunity to significantly increase earnings/share when sentiment finally improves. Remember, in bear mkts bullish news is ignored, but when the mkt turns up...........hmm. I dont hold but I have these on watch for 2009. | labradortrough
10/7/2008 17:15 | a 1.5p divi ain't much use when the price can drop 10p in a blink. agree, they should be cancelling shares. and lots too. | drago |
