13/6/2008 15:40 | agree - just frustrating that the share price languishes. Think small caps are generally having a bad time, I'm sticking to my Buffet principles and holding...pays a handsome dividend at theseprices though! | pinemartin9
13/6/2008 10:30 | hiring 8 people...? business must be ok and expected to keep improving... | surfer2

04/6/2008 11:41 | Some quick details from the AGM yesterday: Not looking at redundancies, may increase headcount slightly. Looking at significantly increasing the commodities side of the business which would then represent 50% of the business rather than the current 33%. They are very excited about this, and if they do then it will mean far more employees. Corporate finance isn't great, but it isn't losing money either. Moved into new offices earlier this year. Took over the offices of Bridgewell securites who spent a fortune on IT systems and general dealing room computers(only last year). Got all this equipment at a steal. Lease is short term until 2010, with the option to increase. Didn't want longer terms as the office would only house upto 100 people and this maybe too small in two years time. Overall got a very good deal on this new office, and have sublet the old one at favourable terms. Very much a specialist business and not affected by the problems of other broking firms. They will not be looking to do any big acquisitions, the cash will be used mainly for organic growth internally. Have sent an employee over to Hong Kong to look at opportunites for growth from the Chinese side. The acquisition of Nabarro Wells has gone well, they had a significant number of clients in the commodities sector which was a natural fit. Deal went through on a Friday and the staff were moved in the Monday. Have sublet the old NW offices. They feel that £1m paid was fantastic business. Overall I am very happy with the management, in particular Tom Gaffney. He owns 3.5% of the business and thinks like a shareholder. He is disappointed with the share price, but notes that at current levels it is supported by cash and assets with none of the ongoing value of the businesses included. | neg
04/6/2008 08:43 | vixen, dividend is paid at the end of this week. Cheers, Steve. | stevemarkus
03/6/2008 13:50 | NAV about 40p guys. Strangely today you could buy 25K @ 40.45 and sell the same @ 40.5p. Hence the 40.5 was actually a sell. When do we get our dividend payments? | vixen
03/6/2008 13:05 | i thought NAV was somewhere between 41 and 46p some time back . | surfer2
03/6/2008 12:57 | I know what you mean trader351, it's very frustrating, there must be lots going on, good news from Minerva as well today. But this has been flatlining for months. | hywel
03/6/2008 12:52 | Ambrian really need to sort out their PR. There's just sod all newsflow and given their multitude of activities this surprises me. Is no news good news? Come on Ambrian, lets improve things for your loyal shareholders. The NAV of the company could be 100p and it'd still be trading in this range. Can you tell I'm frustrated!!!!!! | trader351
03/6/2008 10:22 | anyone care to estimate the NAV? | surfer2
02/6/2008 12:40 | surfer i have reread the frr rns's and like what i see. ambr will go up at some point, 120 would not be out of the way in a good market, , but it's not going to yield a retirement possibility. every time i throw the towel in , the share price rockets, we'll see. | drago
30/5/2008 22:01 | best of luck , i was lurking round frontera at 75p but nevr made the plunge. lot of upside there all right if u can stomach the mms | surfer2
30/5/2008 11:35 | brace yourselves for a decent share price rise folkes. i have sold out my last holding in ambr to buy more frr, for the excitmnet. | drago
22/5/2008 15:47 | i reckon jlp will go quite higher over the next yr or 2 , could be looking at another 1-2 million by next yr. quite a sizey investment in gpm but precious metals will go higher if the current financial mess worsens imo. | surfer2
22/5/2008 13:18 | I cannot comment on that, but the volume in Aus is not that great anyway. They have been hammering away in the states at trade presentations,to increase the sp, in the states. They often use very meaningful price comparisons with yank companies. It must have been fairly realistic for the aus price to rocket. | haydock
22/5/2008 12:42 | Your details were wrong re Samson, that was the point of the RNS. They trade @ 35c aus in the USA & went up from 16c to 27cents after the RNS. | haydock
22/5/2008 09:01 | There is a general air of malaise around AMBR. There are some strange things on the small share market generally. There are traders around who are missing unbelievable tricks. Go to Samson web site for an amazing tale today!!! Then note that the share price rocketed, but not by as much as it should have. ADR Trading Thursday, 22 May 2008 Thats the story to read: Samson has had to tell the world that it was trading for 2x the price in the USA as in Aus!!!!!! Would you believe it!!!! This is not an April fool I kid you not!!! AMBR has just increased the value of the Samson holding & it should be by even more. | haydock
21/5/2008 17:14 | fordtin is right , all the info u need on their site. just check the price of their investments . in fact maybe use their clout to buy the same investments. anyway the chart dare i say it looks like its settled and soon we may be moving up. | surfer2
21/5/2008 16:14 | That's the problem with Ambrian, terrible news flow which makes the company not so transparent. I wish they'd keep shareholders more up to date. It is sickening to think the share price is that of 2.5 years ago. It's not like the company hasn't progressed since then. | trader351 |
