21/5/2008 11:43 | of course if they bought in sub 15c or pre ipo as institutional backing then they have to be quids in ? They also hold NPE which is perking up a little with drill imminent and Farm in just announced a few days ago .A big Korea co. has bought a stake in NPE lately. i have a few NPE myself. Dyor | surfer2
21/5/2008 11:42 | Dont know what price they bought in but a quick look at Nido on the ASX gives the current price at 60 aussie cents. Ambrian declared an interest as of dec 07 so looking at the chart they either bought at a max of 35 cents but thats unlikely given the light trading at that price, 25 cents is more likely . or even 15c - perhaps someone here can confirm when Ambr made the investment?. it looks to me like they have at least doubled their money in 4 months with much more to come. So perhaps add another few million to the coffers even if they sell now ? .with that kind of stockpicking and the co. already on a p/e sub 10 this looks like a good long term bet at these prices. dyor ect | surfer2
21/5/2008 11:36 | They have around 2-2.5 million quid in it i think ( and obviously at a much lower level than the current shareprice, check their website . if Nidos estimates are even 10% correct then id imagine Ambrian will be holding out for multiples of their initial investment. imo ect. google Nido also | surfer2
21/5/2008 09:59 | surfer appologies for being lazy, but, any more info on nido and the value of ambr's holding TIA | drago
20/5/2008 15:47 | AMBRian have a holding in Nido petroleum . the fact that they announced a few days ago that they see up to 11 billion barells of oil in place in their License may be of interest or at least enough to get some discussion going here..given the share price is so low and appears to be settling? | surfer2
13/5/2008 11:12 | So Brad, if I sell you an option to buy AMBR at 60p I could then hedge my position. Wish that it would 'rally quickly to 60p' but I would be surprised. Surely this cannot be due to the share going XD @ 1p (=2.5pc of 40p) when price has increased by av. 7pc! | lambeater
13/5/2008 09:51 | I would not be surprised to see this rally quickly to 60p. | brad1
13/5/2008 09:37 | sp rise in anticipation of the ex-divi date? | trader351
08/5/2008 12:11 | looks like the only way this is going to go up is for me the throw the towel in. (it's a "gift", pity i didn't have the "sell at the top" gift of even somewhere down the sides) | drago
27/4/2008 22:49 | Thanks for thoughts, will continue to consider what to do was tempted to sell and buy more gold etf shares... | luckythedog
26/4/2008 10:22 | trader yep, you'd think the gppm fund could well jump on any recovery since it is invested in all the right areas. jlp is up almost 50% off of it's lows for example. as the world changes there will be new companies being set up to exploit those changes, i wish i had bought shares in landkom @60p , they have bucked the awful market trends recently. it wouldn't surprise me to see new farming companies, growing rice or wheat, looking to list. ambr is surely very cheap imho | drago
24/4/2008 17:27 | Well, the stocks not expensive, the company is growing, has a strongish balance sheet and offers a decent yield. It's definitely worth holding. | trader351
24/4/2008 10:27 | I think the jury's still out on this one. Will any of this translate into a significant share price rise in the next 12mths or will it continue to stagnate? Your thoughts? | luckythedog
24/4/2008 10:03 | Taking in the sellers and moving up. Good sign! | vixen
22/4/2008 16:40 | Hi Chaps, I've just signed up to take my dividends as shares. Will they buy back shares in the market, or issue new ones? On-On /Yogi | yogi13
22/4/2008 15:40 | Uk Analyst just done a research note. Values AMBR conservatively @ 65p BUY | vixen
18/4/2008 12:51 | Well, we know the current share price is more than covered by current assets. Still too cheap, but current market conditions are hindering the share price | trader351
18/4/2008 11:34 | Don't rule them out drago. MM's are playing with this one. | vixen
18/4/2008 10:33 | some proper share buy backs/ decent cash returns would be good right now. | drago
13/4/2008 18:14 | Yes I think the Directors are far more concerned with eroding shareholders stake in the company and gaining greater control through dubious means than increasing the share price. I even suspect they relish the ridiculous drop in the companys share price as it makes there agenda easier to achieve. If the directors had released more news over the last year would the share price now be so low? | luckythedog
11/4/2008 14:57 | Why provide options at 45p. Hardly an incentive to improve performance. Am I missing something or does this just dilute the existing holders. | trader351
09/4/2008 14:44 | Great deal...but does anyone else think Ambrian Capital is run exclusively for the benefit of it's employees and directors and suspect Tom Gaffney views outside share holders as a begrudged necessity. Have any long term shareholders made any money out of Ambrian over the last 2 years? Meanwhile the Employee Benefit Trust has grown massively... your thoughts? | luckythedog
08/4/2008 17:41 | On the face of it I agree that Nabarro looks a great deal. On the other hand it hasn't moved the share price. I assume Mr Nabarro and his fellow directors are not fools and believe they have got a fair price. It may be that we just can't see the part of that price that is linked to future performance. Even so it's a good way for AMBR to do the deal. | makingheaps |
