Next week will be very interesting.
Let's see what effect the SVB demise have on the price of Gold.
This smells a bit like 2008/9 scenario.
Contagion could cause havoc!!
Gold is a safe haven in these times.

That little tick up on Friday, gold up $37, and potentially a host of banks collapsing re SVB crisis, and maybe the feds policy is in tatters and gold will finally fly?

The question is how deep does the SVB crisis go?

We know that it is essentially a "new money" tech startup financial hub, but tech companies are very often massively leveraged yet loss making, so interest rate rises crush the life out of them and leave them insolvent.

Can the fed ignore this fed made disaster and plough on raising rates, or will they fold their hand and yield to pressure to bail out dozens of banks?

Personally I think it was Powell's comment last week when he said he'd "raise rates higher than anyone thought" that put the final nail in the SVB coffin, and the fed does intend to raise rates further, but at what economic and financial cost?

Interesting week ahead as bank runs return with a vengeance.

Meanwhile, Putin must be laughing.

SVB collapse could be massive, at least for HNW "new money" folk in Silicon Valley, but will old money dinosaurs bail them out, will Biden parachute cash in like it's a Ukrainian laundry owned by Hunter?

I agree.

These days when a small PLC starts doing PR it usually means they are heading for a dilutive placing so the share price drops. We at ALTN don't have that problem, yet we know that the company will need to raise a chunky amount of cash in 18 months or so. Hopefully our share price will be significantly higher by then.

It'll come eventually. The problem with ALTN is management are great at running a company but awful at running a PLC. The share price is all down to lousy PR - stuff like regular, consistent updates, keeping shareholders informed, updating the website, sending out regular tweets. They hadn't documented stuff properly hence the fiasco with the last auditors. But having said that they are running the company well, have successfully turned it around and very much to their credit personally lent it money in the past when it needed it. So with patience I think this will be a multibagger.

Jerome says he's prepared to raise rates higher than anyone thought...

This is because western currencies are bust, and only painfully high rates can attract investment, but it will cause havok in the business world.

Anyone sense blood?

Buy gold!

Just no liquidity. That could change very quickly.

Maybe there's some activity under the bonnet?

If there has to be a bottom in this cycle I suggest it could be as low as 110p before we rally, but we may never see 110 ever again.

Yeah, there must be strings attached to get a deal as good as ours.

Retail plankton, as usual, will be the last to know the details.

Agree with RC123 that the bank is using a nicer sounding name and conveying that they are "partners". For all we know they could have letters of credit etc on equipment or want to sell some of our product etc.It is a great vote of confidence having a good sized commercial bank lending us $40m.

I also see that our bank CDC took over the Russian Bank Alfa subsidiary in Kaz last year. It's now a fairly large bank in Kaz.

"As you know well, the United States strongly supports Kazakhstan's sovereignty, its independence, its territorial integrity," Blinken said in talks at the foreign ministry in Kazakhstan's capital Astana.

"Sometimes we just say those words and they actually have no meaning..."

May just be a polite term for the lender. Anyway it's a major vote of confidence for ALTN that someone is willing to lend all that money. Just surprising in the circs that the market doesn't value the company more highly. Another year and the company's assets will be up what, 80% or more?

Interesting that the lenders involved in the recent $40m loan facility are referred to as "partners", and I wonder who they are and what agreements we have with them?

Do these partners, who agreed to provide a low interest long term loan, get first options on a future fundraising to raise $75m for TS?

Is it Polymetal?

That's my view. No point in the listing as the company needs to build up. Once it's got moving a bit, could be useful

The listing is pointless at the moment, but if we need to raise capital it does offer options.

We may need to raise $75m within three years...

I looked it up. There is no obligation to give quarterly reports. The annual report is due end of April. So as they've got a new accountant, I expect they'll take their time and square everything up there. Let's face it, the listing isn't doing much for them at the moment and will probably only come into its own once they start paying dividends etc.. So I think management will do the minimum for now as far as complying is concerned.
