Sensible move stock imo well done. Re H1 results we broadly know what to expect but having just had another look at last years release there was quite a bit of info in it. So hopefully we can expect some guidance positive I hope mainly on grade going forward. Stockpiled ore of lower grade is hopefully now being left to one side as grades improve and the new drilling rig should now be alot more accurate in retrieving the higher grade stuff. GLA

Tightfist, yes sold in about 12 tranches a couple of days ago to get a firm price. Actual quote never fell below 1.85 despite bid dropping to c 1.5 at one point.

Feel a bit more comfortable now, initial £150k had risen to c£600k.

Not sure about H1 results, don't think they will make great reading, but should recover on Q3 results if they get their act together.

Federal Reserve to tolerate higher inflation in policy shift

The Federal Reserve has adopted a new strategy for monetary policy that will be more tolerant of temporary increases in inflation, cementing expectations that the US central bank will keep interest rates at ultra-low levels for years to come.
Jay Powell, the Fed chair, announced the shift as he addressed the Jackson Hole monetary policy symposium, which began in virtual format on Thursday.

“Because the economy is always evolving, the FOMC’s strategy for achieving its goals — our policy framework — must adapt to meet the new challenges that arise,” Mr Powell said, according to prepared remarks.

Google has our share price rooted to 1.81p and has for days, yet advfn has it at 2.2p

Obviously they use different data, but why so off track?

At the moment we don't seem to have that follow through on gold after a decent move ... it will come but for now profit taking is following every $20-30 move A few months ago last nights good move would be followed by another and another over a few days but stood after one move.So I guess we are still in consolidation mode for a whike

Or not! It is very volatile and will remain so for a while I believe before it resumes the uptrend.

I'm not saying it isn't sensible to reduce your position if you make a gain and want to take some off the table, or if you think the risk/reward weighting shifts significantly, I just don't really understand the concept of thinking about your holding in terms of how many 'free shares' you have managed to squire or selling for the sole sake of reducing your average cost of purchase..

Each to their own, we all have frameworks for investing. I generally buy and hold, but I do like to reduce the risk to my core holding if I believe there is an opportunity to do so. When ALTN was under .5p I thought the opportunity v risk was huge so bought well above what was my core holding. I have since sold some of those additional shares to reduce my holding cost / risk.

I don't buy into this concept of 'free carry shares' and 'average holding cost'.

To me, it is more simple; you buy shares if you think the price is going to go up, and sell if you think it is going to go down, and the amount you hold at a given time depends on your personal risk tolerance and perception of the individual risk/reward of a particular stock. I don't care what my average holding cost is nor how many of my shares are 'free profit' - I care about the value relative to the risk/reward and my perception of the company's prospects.

I don't particularly trade short-term as I am not confident about short-term movements, so I buy and hold for whatever my target holding period is - in this case at least 2-3 years at the moment.

You may be able to obtain more 'free shares' successfully trading short-term swings, but you are equally as lilkely to lose some of your shares trying that - particularly with the spread here.

that is true for your core holding. However, if you bought a significant volume of shares above that core because the price went 'so low' then it seems sensible to me to sell some to get the overall cost of holding down or if possible get your core holding + as free carry shares.

I've bought EML and HZM last week.

Added ALTN again yesterday, am now overweight ALTN and will have to be patient.
