Some good resilience there, just sold 962,000 at 1.865. Thats about 7m sold by me late pm yesterday and this am at ave 1.875. Finished for now, but still hold 24m.

Trouble is they can get sloppy when it's easy money. Increase of AISC etc. Plus C-19 costs. So could be a bit of a shock. Seen it elsewhere.

I prefer to consider where it is going.

All indicators suggest gold will rise in September for many reasons.

Stimulus, USA elections, brexit, recession, inflation, conflict, covid.

Sellers about and getting nervous of Gold price BUT in reality we need to see a pullback of sorts even back to circa 1850 ish. The trick is to look where it has come from not where it is likely to correct - Gold at 1850 is still making shed loads for producers.

I am normally a fan of TA/Charts but the closing price on ALTN is often so unrepresentative of intraday trading......?

I think charts are always helpful but with ALTN probably less helpful than other higher volume more liquid stocks.

In the absence of news, yes. But it is nowhere near an exact science and is based on probabilities. Which is why to some it sounds like you are saying 'it could go up or it could go down'.

For something like ALTN it is of limited use as the spread makes trading prohibitive and news can radically change the picture. As this type of stock is my preferred option and what I consider a long term hold, I do it more for interest and to determine whether I am likely to get another buy in opportunity.

Gold RSI now down at 40, so approaching oversold territory. MACD and volume indicators have come right off ; all good for creating conditions for the next up leg.

Well I bought a few today under 2p.

We may get a text book correction and head n shoulders or we may not but news will come and the share price will eventually rise.

I don't think that you should necessarily see these corrections as bad news. Nothing goes up in a straight line and longer term rises tend to come on the back of higher lows that bring in new investors at a higher level. When share prices zoom ahead they tend to get dragged back to the longer term moving averages. That doesn't mean the party is over. I think far from it. But given the current direction of travel and the fact that gold also appears likely to go lower at this point the short term path of least resistance seems clear.
