15/6/2021 10:31:45 | "There's no point in relying on the ALGW web-site..."
I hold my hands up and freely admit that my research into this before buying, was woefully inadequate. I continue to hold and hope, but would you agree the comment above sounds more 'alarm bells' than gives reason for optimism?
Couple this with the 'expectation' to have funding news in April and I'm left kicking myself for not selling when my instincts were telling me to (@6.5) a fortnight ago.
What worries me most is GS's apparent lack of concern for his investors. If things are delayed due to Covid (not sure you can catch it over the phone or via a video link btw), then fair enough. But If I was Chairman of a company who's NAV has fallen by nearly 50% in the last month, and that company was progressing well 'behind the scenes ' despite that drop, I'd be seeking to re-assure my shareholders accordingly. Why no such communication?
While I've been typing, I notice the 'offer' has fallen to 4.25. I note also, that 7trade is not in the least bit bothered - which strikes me as a remarkable demonstration of stoicism - something I'm clearly lacking atm. Am I right to be 'bothered'?
EDIT 4.1/4.2 FFS. | 801710245 | |
15/6/2021 10:12:28 | ok - thank you very much | kaos3 | |
15/6/2021 10:09:38 | @kaos3:
There's no point in relying on the ALGW web site, it's woefully out of date anyway. Go onto LSE and find a post by me, then click on my nickname and you'll be able to look back through my posts. I'm pretty sure that I posted full details of the offer documents which give details of the Holding company/Insurance company's financial position but you'll have to look back to Feb/March/April. | gilesfitzh | |
15/6/2021 09:58:19 | Through its joint venture with FCA regulated Alternative Investment Fund Manager SL Investment Management Ltd (SLIM), the Company’s wholly owned subsidiary ALM is manager to BlackOak Alpha Growth Fund (BOAGF or the Fund), an open-ended Cayman Island Exempt Limited Partnership, which invests in life settlements. On inception BOAGF received investment seed capital of approximately $15m. In March 2020, the Fund won a recognition award for excellence from BarclayHedge due to its net return performance in the fixed income – asset-backed/insurance linked securities sector.
I know that lol
and o support the acquisition, Pello Capital has successfully completed an oversubscribed placing of £3,750,000.AcquisitionThe acquisition includes the ongoing operations of a Bermuda based Class C licensed insurance company with managed assets of over $290m and in-force policies of over $750m.Ninety-five percent (95%) of the insurance holding company is being acquired by a wholly owned subsidiary of Alpha Growth, with the remaining 5% being retained by the existing Chairman and seller of the company. The seller and Chairman of the insurance company will remain on the Board of Directors of the holding company and will be joined by Gobind Sahney and Jason Sutherland. | kaos3 | |
15/6/2021 09:56:44 | I did read up on the industry - a lot to learn
and am at the
hxxps://algwplc.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/algw-prospectus-final_3sept2020.pdf
and I do not claim anything - hence I am asking to fast forward into the reality
so - no need of funding giles?
they did not get their hands on the insurance Co cash pile and investments "in time" | kaos3 | |
15/6/2021 09:52:11 | @kaos3: You say you have 'studied' it and yet:
You do not know the name of the fund which ALGW and SLIM have partnered in. You did not realise that the placing back in Feb/March was to buy 95% of the holding company of the Insurance company. You did not understand that the Insurance company makes a healthy profit which puts the ALGW Group at about break-even. You did not understand that the Insurance company purchase included some $2 million in cash.
Your definition of 'studied' is very different to mine. | gilesfitzh | |
15/6/2021 09:50:50 | they have 300 mil to manage - fees will be substantial - when they come
and I like it - huge leap forward - in due time
----- Thanks King S - I got that - and even wondered how it is possible to buy "control" of such a big pool of money so cheap?
but then in my ignorance - the bills for consultants, lawyers, compliance, travels etc and the "marketing/expansion" needs are substantial
-----------
maybe it is not so and can you please elaborate - do they have enough funding (broad, including ev debt) for it all ?
TIA | kaos3 | |
15/6/2021 09:41:42 | kaos3 - the Bermuda Insurance Co acquisition has already been paid for and completed out of the last placing proceeds - and it comes with a good chunk of cash on the balance sheet to boot. | king suarez | |
15/6/2021 09:41:31 | I read about this sector - it is "unfortunate" - but looking good in general for what unfortunately is coming (not that I know) - an interesting "anti bet"
and yup - pretax - those are my targets too
any ideas on funding ?? | kaos3 | |
15/6/2021 09:36:36 | No such thing as sticky hands when a share is cratering. Sold a pile of mine a couple of weeks ago and splurged into i3e for the maiden divi and forthcoming blastoff (worth a look 👀) Still got a few left here. Will probably start accumulating again @ 2-3p. Price will go there IMO, even if I don’t want it to. On a positive note I had lunch with a business friend at the weekend who just couldn’t get over to the US - Emergency flights only. So I assume COVID is the delay to signing off RCF/direct investment. Still think this will happen. Until then, the company is held back. | pretax2 | |
15/6/2021 09:33:18 | well I am here to buy - so I "study" it- hence I am waiting and have an agenda lol
but please - do some "pumping" by answering me the follows:
the only revenue is oak tree management fee and consultations - which atm is not very much - specially because Oak Tree fee is split with the other advisor
now they are taking on an insurance Co - for which they need funds 1. to pay 2. to finance the process of buying 3. to expand
is there no need for additional funds, specially as they intend to grow by further acquisition | kaos3 | |
15/6/2021 09:28:39 | My post on LSE of a few minutes ago:
Some 2 million shares have been sold so far today by impatient (or under researched) investors in ALGW to those of us who are patient investors, who understand that GS's timelines are nothing more than his most optimistic hope and have fully researched and understood the Company's potential. Nothing has changed. The RNS regarding the Counterparty's direct investment will be published when it's done and not to suit anyone's timetable. If you haven't figured out that selling ALGW shares when there's nothing going on will just get you a really bad price then you really shouldn't be 'investing' in the Stock market. | gilesfitzh | |
15/6/2021 09:22:36 | Pretty sure it was looking at trades around the time. | cszjrh2 | |
15/6/2021 09:22:28 | 500k was a sell, probably from our 500k seller. | 7rademark | |
15/6/2021 09:17:06 | I agree 7T, Reversal in progress.. | bullrun1 | |
15/6/2021 09:17:01 | 1.5M bought in the last 10 minutes - unless the 500,000 trade was a delayed sell -
...which it probably was. Can anyone confirm? | 801710245 | |
15/6/2021 09:15:00 | Im not selling. Sure its irritating the news hasnt come through - end of April is a long time ago - but Im following the big money. MW was still buying so. . . | cszjrh2 | |
15/6/2021 09:13:29 | 801 I'm still holding, moves like this don't bother me at all, capitulation is when people give up and sell, usually followed by a reversal. | 7rademark | |
15/6/2021 09:10:16 | TA 16.3. there is a gap to be potentially filled | kaos3 | |
15/6/2021 09:09:37 | What does that mean - are you still holding 7trademark, or bailing? What has happened to all the people snapping up shares into 'sticky-hands'? | 801710245 | |
15/6/2021 09:08:02 | Looks like capitulation to me. | 7rademark | |
15/6/2021 08:51:07 | Falling knife territory. Will there be a dead cat bounce ? | terminator101 | |
15/6/2021 08:44:44 | I further hold for a bounce back. Fundamentally nothing has changed, has´nt it? So why should I sell now? the time point for selling was 3 weeks ago. Now its too late imho. | oilhunter2020 | |
15/6/2021 08:35:53 | Doesn't seem very long ago predictions of 10p within a week were being touted. Where are we going now - do I bail (all my profit is gone - and I'm about to go into a loss), or do I hold for a bounce?
Very disappointed. | 801710245 | |
15/6/2021 07:41:38 | They can't time an RNS to suit retail investor worries... from the comment about an "April update" that never materialised, it's clear that whatever is left is complex and subject to delays and rewording.. resigning ... add to that Covid continued impact and here we are. It's not been canned at least as they would have to RNS... | onedayrodders | |
