I’ve been starting to research ALGW (better late than never!).. Apart from KS write-ups (thank you!), random things I have noticed so far (and queries) are:

- Only 4 employees – presumably the 3 US-national directors plus the (part-time?) UK company secretary? Presumably the NED is not full time either, so 2-3 full-time equivalents?

- In the Sept 2020 Prospectus for Placing, they say “... the Company generally looks to appoint experienced industry operators as independent contractors rather than as full time employees”. Do we know if there are any such contractors being paid right now?

- Given the above, are the Mayfair and/or NY addresses just brass nameplates or are they actual offices?

- There is £205k of “other expenses” (in last annual report) that are not broken down – might include either of the above?

- With 3 US-national directors, including COO resident in US, a company dealing with US life policies, selling (so far) to US customers, why are they listed in UK rather than US? (at least they are not on AIM though!)

- Rajiv Rebello only stayed 1yr 1 mo as Chief Actuary (Mar 19 to Mar 20) – just long enough to get paid (in ALGW shares) for Colva Insurance Group . He is and was US based, and is now operating under a similar company name (Colva Actuarial Services) to that he sold to ALGW for £77k. You have to wonder whether his clients stayed with him or ALGW/BOAGF.

- I haven’t noticed inflation mentioned as one of the risks. If it rises, as seems to be happening, this will make existing policies that have been invested in less attractive, by reducing real returns? (though premature Covid-related deaths might have opposite effect?). And lower the prices of new policies, or any sale of policies/portfolios. This could damage the perception of an uncorrelated “safe” asset class?

These are all a bit random, but any/all comments welcome.

You do know that's not the same as making an actual profit. Neither does it say anything about the size of the revenue. Calls of 30p are hilarious. Well you are going to get plenty of opportunity to top up next week then.

Nope. Last earnings forecast we have is that post acquisition they expect to be EBITDA positive. Lets see if that comes to fruition....

Really? Yet not a peep about revenues this year in the Q1 statement in amongst all the waffle from gobbling huh.

What additional pre-Feb revenue were you expecting to see? That GS had been busy buying scratch cards and had won big?!The forward looking statements were included in the Q1 Trading Update. Do keep up.

Its had a good run, but gonna tank on Tuesday. £90k half year revenue for a £28m market cap. Hilarious, that's almost ZOE level of delusion. Pre-aquisition or not, it's the total lack of saying anything about the future in the interims that's the issue.

I agree KS ... I think it's an emotional reaction that we've waited for an update in 'April' that never materialised and on Monday we will be in June. And after waiting for so long we get the interim report which must be viewed as in the rear view mirror.I think Monday will see shares change to much more receptive stronger hands

Any sell off will be bought into, I'll certainly take some if they drop it heavily, the up trend is still firmly in place and it will continue, I've been invested in some excellent companies who are useless with information and updates, it's frustrating but usual. Anyone concerned should sit tight and await the next news, imo it will be company/life changing

"Scrum down for the sell button on Tuesday"

Why, what were people expecting? The revenues are in-line with expectation given we know the size of the BOAGF and fee rate and the fact the Bermuda acquisition happened post period so is not reflected in results.

These results were just a formality to comply with statutory regulations - 10 pages compared to the annual results, which are around 60 pages.

Is it the lack of forward guidance and trading update that you are concerned about?

That will surely come soon when news is announced about the RCF completion?

I wonder if those groups who've 'bought big' - assuming any such exist, are phased by this?

Some posts on the LSE board, are trying to 'temper disappointment', suggesting Tuesday might be a buying opportunity.

The statement is old news and didnt contain anything new. We knew they were still loss making up to Feb from previous announcements so I dont see this having any impact on sentiment. Anyone selling based on that statement alone would be like driving a car by looking in your rear view mirror IMO. But each to their own and everyone needs to make their own investment decisions and weve all made good money here. Definitely time for the well overdue announcement from GS. I hope hes been saving up a batch of good news to drop in one go....

I admire your optimism cszjrh2. But in saying it changes nothing,
what about sentiment? Poor sentiment = poor share performance.

Not the announcement we are waiting for, sure. F£ck up it not appearing on the company site, definitely. But it changes nothing. Its an interim statement of the companys finances ending back in Feb!

4. CV restrictions are still very much in effect at both a country and a company level. Sure, big established companies can move their business online easily but Alpha is a minnow scrabbling to establish a foothold. It's growth is based on banging on doors, face to face meetings and calling in favours. 5. No equities volatility? US markets suffering anti-Biden sentiment and definitely heading towards a correction.
