IC yesterday..

Activist investor Crystal Amber Fund (CRS) has suffered a shareholder mutiny of its own. The company lost a continuation vote at its annual general meeting on Monday, meaning it now has to “reorganise, reconstruct or wind-up” its portfolio.

If the fund is now forced to offload its assets, this could be bad news for investors in some of its main holdings: De La Rue (DLAR), Equals (EQLS), Hurricane Energy (HUR) and Allied Minds (ALM).

The insurrection was led by US hedge fund Saba Capital, which had acquired more than a quarter of Crystal Amber’s shares. It has also built up short positions in De La Rue and Allied Minds, in anticipation that the share price of these companies will now take a hit.

More opportunity than crisis I think ..

Good spot ..piece links neatly into article talking about the close relationship with Federated working on DoD 5G initiative...FW seem well inside the tent and as often is the case technology accelerated through big defence budgets often emerges as the industry front runner."The Department of Defense is leading a $600 million effort to architect and deploy the largest 5G wireless initiative to test how the military can use 5G technology for its own purposes as well as a broader effort to lead the world in 5G."https://wia.org/blog/u-s-military-partners-with-wireless-industry-for-5g-test-bed/

Understandable shareholders might be uncertain when Allied Minds website still shows TableUp when it was sold August 2020. Wonder where the $5m central cost goes exactly? Certainly sums up the comms effort.http://www.alliedminds.com/about-us-2/

Yep that is correct TouchBistro bought out Table Top and allied minds received $6m worth of TouchBistro stock (sub 1% outstanding ) in exchange. They still retain the TouchBistro stake which I hope could be worth substantially more than the $6m current book valuation.TouchBistro has talked about IPO last year and valuations in the sector have boomed..note recent float Toast.

Apologies for asking but - Table up and touch bistro are essentially the same entity?
I've read the RNS and from my understanding ALM is now a share holder in touch bistro as that's how the deal was structured? (As Touch Bistro bought Table up and ALM has retained the shares from that sale?)
Could someone please explain it if I'm not correct??

Good point on the CA vote next week its possible that some might see CA as a forced seller..i think the timetable to any wind up would likely be somewhat protracted and its likely CA will be putting some of their portfolio into play..not impossible AM one of them. Not expecting price weakness but not impossible either way does not impact on AM assets which i believe will more that support current levels or AMs own commitment to monetise their assets in a timely fashion.

Cheers guys ..rather frustrating hold but I have been increasing here, there could be a real surprise or two on portfolio revaluations also the outside chance of a secondary exit on an up round. Federated still absolutely key but other remaining assets all look capable of meaningful up rounds..noting Bobnumber1 comments on BC maybe being worth current market cap alone. Since the sector is hot to trot and last valuation 2018 likely substantial revaluation.
Even the $6m of Touchbistro ( last valued 2019) and again a now hot sector could be a pleasant surprise.
Awards season continues..but that revenue gain looks interesting though likely a slip back last year as the pandemic hit the restaurant sector ..hopefully now back on the up.Larger rival Toast ipo’d this year now commands $22b market cap up from $2.5b a few years back.TouchBistro last valued about $650m 2019.

I'll add my thanks, kooba. Great posting.

Monday is CA D-day. Any movement in share price has been well concealed. share price has been very stable, same with CA's quoted holdings (like this one).

Bazzer said single digit Ms 2021...1-9$m?Double digits in the years afterward. So bit vague. But if on a prospective revenue 2022 at least $10m up from sub $1m 2020...in the space comms sector definitely some decent upside on any relative valuation i can find..substantial as sentiment in th sector seems extremely strong.Still worry that any fundraise we get stymied as we cannot hold our corner an have ineffective management imo. But it looks like FW BC and OS would be raising from a position of strength and keen investor /strategic interest so hopefully will ride through with acceptable dilution.Hoping some "coming months" activity signposted is net few weeks or will drag over Christmas..i am rather nervous at the markets currently and would be good to secure up round funding sooner rather than later.

Don't remember double digit M revenue being forecast from BComm in the CMD will look back..focused more on the Federated Wireless presentation and picking the bones out of that.Interesting the Mynaric value , early stage business in exactly the same field and commanding a $270m valuation, if you are correct with seemingly smaller revenues.Appears multiple potential sizeable uplifts in value...nice to see it starting to be reflected in the share price ..not.

BC's 2018 fundraising valued the company at $38mill. BC was then pre revenue. They are now revenue producing and look to be doing better than predicted double digit million revs as communicated on CMD. I would anticipate a substantial uplift from here that would show Bridgecomm alone equals the current company mc. This is obviously what Numis and the board are alluding to regarding future venture capital like returns.

Same space as BridgeCommMynaric recently raised good money in US.Mynaric is a laser communication company which develops and manufactures laser products allowing for high data rate and long-distance wireless data transmission between moving objects for terrestrial, airborne and space applications. https://www.satellitetoday.com/business/2021/11/12/mynaric-places-shares-on-us-nasdaq-market/They don't have much revenue either....Revenue increased by 53% to EUR 0.7 million (2019: EUR 0.4 million) (Bridgecomm, Inc.generates $698,088 in sales (USD).)However they do have a $270m market cap now.As of 30 June 2021, Allied Minds' ownership of the issued share capital of BridgeComm was 81.15% and fully-diluted ownership was 62.92%Now reverse engineering slightly as AM don't like to show individual values..yeah who knows why...working off Numis estimates.BridgeComm worth 8p per share of 46p NAV if you take the fully diluted holding above ( maybe conservative) you would get valuation of about $40m on BridgeComm..( off the cuff seem to remember post last $10m round in 2018 high $30ms)

Nice article on the reinvention of SciFluor.I'd imagine if the phase 2 evidences meaningful efficacy then there would be the opportunity of a graceful exit in a secondary.https://endpts.com/low-profile-eye-drop-developer-spells-out-the-game-plan-that-drew-brent-saunders-to-the-board-and-it-involves-going-earlier-than-anti-vegfs/

Looks like a small increase in amount raised from last update from AM so we have been diluted slightly from this position.OcuTerra TherapeuticsOcuTerra Therapeutics, Inc., is a clinical stage ophthalmology drug development company focused on treating diabetic retinopathy earlier to preserve vision and avoid intravitreal injections, has now completed an additional close of its Series B funding round at $31.5m - an increase of $16.9m on the $14.6m first close announced on 28 April 2021 and has a post-money valuation of $48.9m. Harry Rein's appointment to the Board of the company is pending, and in the meantime he is responsible for liason between the company and Allied Minds. Harry Rein will also bring to the Board extensive life sciences experience.-- Proceeds of the Series B round will be used to prepare for, conduct and report on the results of afuture Phase II clinical trial of its OTT166 asset, among other working capital needs -- This funding is now sufficient for OcuTerra Therapeutics' immediate needs -- OcuTerra Therapeutics' Board has been further strengthened with the appointment of experienced biotech executive Brent Saunders as Chairman and Robert Ruffolo, Ph.D, and Robin Steele as Directors in May 2021-- As of 30 June 2021, Allied Minds' ownership of the issued share capital was 17.90% and fully-diluted ownership was 13.00%.
