There seems to be very little said about the Fryer in the quotes from the company; what there is stresses their efficiency. A little while ago it was claimed that the health benefits were their main selling point. I could be wrong but this is starting to have the air of a new product which has been developed without adequate market research - the makers are offering different reasons why it should be of interest to their potential customers because the original selling proposition did not take. The longer this goes on without a serious order for the Fryer, the more I suspect it's a dog and will not be the future winner that was previously claimed. I just hope I am wrong.

The strange 309 price is now showing as a UT. An Uncrossing Trade. This is defined by the LSE as :-

"Uncrossing Trade - This is used for the single uncrossing trade, detailing the total executed volume and uncrossing price as a result of a SETS auction."

Well the only fact I can give everyone to help uncover the mystery is I was one of the many buyers today, my purchases read as AT. I haven't a clue why there is a forced seller constantly popoing in on the offer, but I can speculate, with new sell orders coming in quickly as soon as buyers fill the offer, today was bascially relentless one way traffic buying the offers, with little going through hitting the bid.

The most likley scenario, one seller who has a very large quantity to move for reasons other than the prospects for these shares after all most people do not want to hold shares forever, and the seller obviously wanted to use the good news which would inevitably attract buyers to offload.

All the AT buys going through with similar amounts but at more than a couple of second intervals is someone simply putting orders on the order book trying to avoid disclosing his/her true intent by holding their full order, and have to say that I placed a number of AT trades hitting the offer on numerous occasions, only to see more offers come back in almost stright away, on each subsequent occasion one does become a bit more caucious, but it's very obviously a game that alot of people are playing against most probably one big seller, that will probably clear at soon.

If you have a direct market access platform which I personaly enjoy there are a number of brokers offering this service, you can place orders on the offer and the bid side yourself and even with relatively small amounts of money if your using CFD's anyone can cause havok with the share price depending on the quantiy he/she is willing to buy/sell or even threaten to buy/sell, this is true of any less liquid SETS stock, however there are many more sporting examples out there. Especially at the open and close, this share does sometimes suffer with liquidity issues in the first half hour and last half hour of trade.

Anything else, is pure speculation, but here goes. I'm in little doubt there is a "forced" seller at the moment, this is unlikely to persist though, and given buyers are reacting to news, the most likley outcome is the price will quickly go back up once it is cleared, what you don't know is how many he/she has and how low they are willing to go, the £3.09 selling was most likley one buyer playing a bit of "poker", rather than the seller as there was not alot of interest hitting the bid with any volume all day, so it's suspicious they were auctionded off so low.

The results basically say the current market forecasts are wrong, there are strong fundamentals for growth, the results are ahead of market forecasts so the expectation would be a rise to 3.60 in the medium term (2-3months), short term days-weeks, who knows, but there is plenty of support at these levels.

And the £3.09, if you were thinking of buying alot of shares and knew there was a big seller out there, one possible strategy is to try to worry him/her buy selling a few right at the end in the final auction to try to get much better offers when the market re-opens on Monday ? Alas I doubt it will work, and my guess is the open will be broadly up around 3p-4p and stay there for a while yet, but a big buyer is most likley to be attracted once he/she finds time to break away from the trials of enjoying themselves, and at that point the game wil be afoot, but blink and you will miss it, the brave back their judgement, not short term movements which are impossible to predict....

BM - Yes I too watched with amazement as those deals of 1000 kept rattling through. I have seen it done before on AT trades in FTSE 100/250 stocks and sometimes in smaller numbers on lesser stocks in order to disguise positions being adopted or removed, but I cannot offer an explanation for the reasons behind this particular burst of activity late morning today. Perhaps someone else on this thread may have some suggestions. I am not experienced in identifying the reasons behind some of the MM's activities or the mysteries of the market place, however I do know that I was happy with today's results and will continue to hold and top up on any weakness. Regards CH.

PS - Gateside agree with you absolutely. Without the facts you are at a distinct disadvantage.

What is mis-leading is that someone who buys a paper tomorrow and checks Aga's Share Price will see that it has gone down, when for most of the day it has been up on the back of a lot of buying.

I know what you mean CH. The closing and starting prices each day are daft. You would think that with all the technology this should be a problem of the past.

However the "funny" share price at closing today - do you think it is the same type of think. I dont. Some very strange patterns in trading today. Maybe just my lack of experience but I dont recall seeing so many deals, one after another, being done for 1000 shares at a time.

The 309p final deal of the day was timed by Squaregain at 16.32. This was the lowest figure of the day but by no means the largest. 1x 500,000 4 or 5 @ 100,000 and 1x 250,000. Norwich Union have notified a total sale of 650,000 but this was just profit taking I suspect as they (Aviva) still have over 11% of the company.

What was the 309 deal????

Difficult sometimes to understand closing prices. Close shows down 3 at 309 which is actually 2 below the closing bid price. Very heavy volume traded with seemingly 1,770,224 bought and only 198,278 sold, so almost nine shares bought for every one sold, hardly a scenario for pessimism. What annoys me is that for anyone who is not aware of what actually took place they will see the share price marked down on very heavy volume on a day of results. Hopefully Monday will rectify this anomaly. CH.

Although still not back in these yet I keep a close watch. The results look good. In the core business 6,200 cookers have been sold, but I am unable to find a comparative figure for last year's first half. The Infinity fryer which was last said to be set for "a major impact" is still waiting it seems for that breakthrough and I am a bit concerned with the comment about "testing customer's attitudes". It seems to be implying that the naughty customers are being rapped on the wrists! Will be interesting to see how the share price reacts if at all).

Soysoy - I agree, looking strong with volume 95066 in excess of a 233 day MA of daily volume. The R trade buy of 100000 at 315.75 after the close is also very encouraging. 320 and above now possible ? CH.

Continuing strength as the chart is showing two golden crosses with the 8 day MA moving up through the 13 day MA on 2/9/05 and now moving up through the 21 day MA today. Further advances certainly possible with a renewed short term target of 320 now pencilled in. CH.
