09/12/2021 12:14 | Oh well. Yesterday was the end of the Assessment of Preemptive Rights. Afentra seem to be still in the game. | kevjones2
07/12/2021 16:57 | If I remember correctly tomorrow (08/12/2021) is the end of the next phase of the Sonangol process. Might be news on Thursday but these things take time - especially in Africa. | kevjones2
03/12/2021 12:28 | In closedown pending a tender for some of Sonangol's blocks. Might be some news before Christmas but if the tender is successful it will probably take until about February/March to be signed, sealed and delivered. All good at the moment. | kevjones2

24/11/2021 17:24 | The vacated space has also opened up an opportunity for new foreign companies to step in. One such player is Afentra, a new Africa-focused company led by Paul McDade, former CEO at Tullow Oil. He has experience in the North Sea from his Tullow days. And what has played out in the last 25 years in the North Sea is playing out in West Africa. “There’s going to be a migration of assets from much larger IOCs to smaller independent oil and gas companies. The majors have better places to allocate their capital. They see that these assets may be better off in the hands of a smaller, independent oil and gas company,” says McDade. Afentra is looking across all Africa and has focused on production in West Africa. Nigeria has a number of well-developed indigenous companies, albeit ones which require significant funding. “As assets become available is there the financing available for companies to acquire those assets? Maybe they need to co-join with international independents, bringing in the competency of managing the local operations with international finance,” says McDade. | sea7
24/11/2021 12:47 | Further investigation leads me to believe there will be nothing finalised until February/March 2022, if successful. There should be RNS updates in the meantime. | kevjones2
07/11/2021 23:23 | The article below is a very good summary of what's going on, and why, with Sonangol. It mentions that Sales and Purchase Agreements (SPAs) are hoped to be reached by the end of 2021. | kevjones2
07/11/2021 23:13 | Sonangol announcement due tomorrow (08/11/2021). Might be delayed as African countries can often have bureaucratic issues. Just did some research and the Kwanza region is an oil goldmine so to speak. I know now why Afentra's bod keeps referring to environmental standards: so does Sonangol's website. Could be a very interesting few days ahead if there are no delays. | kevjones2
02/11/2021 12:20 | Indeed. Success on Afentra's first bid would be quite something, and no worries if bid does not succeed. A very good position to be in for investors who got in after the new board was installed. | kevjones2
02/11/2021 11:54 | high chance we get block 23 I think still have massive cash pile even if bidding fails | stockhunters
01/11/2021 15:53 | Decision time next week. | kevjones2
19/10/2021 16:18 | The “most notable region-focused independent” participating was Afentra, Welligence said. Tullow Oil alumni launched Afentra in May this year. “The only really big player to bid was Sinopec.” | sea7

08/10/2021 08:24 | Now will be the time to judge the BoD. Hopefully they have managed to pick up a quality asset at a decent price, which given we are valued at cash, should lead to a decent re-rate......Hopeful | otemple3
