This stock is another example of a co that has a near enough excellent commercial product due to be launched - shares over sold recently down to 22p & along comes a billionaire & buys a stake into them along with a lock in period of 12 months

They must be confident this product will become commercial sooner or later with little doubt - i.e a very little potential of it going wrong in the commercial stage

well done to all holders - was in my watch list but thought it would be many months before further deals / news etc would get released - so i was wrong - but maybe not too late to get in as we have a 220p npv / share value - will buy on any re trace, if we get one that is.

At least they can afford to go ahead with the 1Mw plant for ICL without the grant which would be rather nice size test for their FC, plus demonstration to future clients.

A bit disappointed at the investment price, I was hoping a fundraising would occur after releasing news on the Beta+ tests.
But with such a large investment they must have inside information on the Beta+ progress and be satisfied. Clearly he wanted a significant percentage of the company rather than investing a set amount of money which shows confidence, I wonder what doors he will be opening. As stated in the headline its a strategic investor rather than instituitional numbers men in the city.
We have no fundraising threat overhanging us now, which will give new investors confidence.

Second on the risers board now, still difficult to value this company, although we must be near some sort of announcement with this new investment.

Appears to be an underlying bid. Someone accumulating more.

A break of this 35p level and 40p should be reached pretty quickly.

Issue price of 26.6p and 2 gaps now back down to 26.75p ... unusual for a share to not fall back to the issue price in this situation

GENEVA, Oct. 10 -- Publication No. WO/2012/131325 was published on Oct. 4.
Title of the invention: "CELL STACK SYSTEM."
Applicants: AFC ENERGY PLC (GB) and BACKSTROM Andreas Karl (GB).
Inventors: Andreas Karl Backstrom (GB).
According to the abstract posted by the World Intellectual Property Organization: "A system (10) for supplying and removing a plurality of fluids to and from a cell stack (11), wherein the cell stack comprises a plurality of fluid connection ports, includes a connection module (60) defining a plurality of connection ports (72) to mate with the connection ports (64) of the stack (11). The connection ports may have clearance to allow for misalignment, and may have a face seal (73). A fluid duct (12) communicates with each connection port (72) of the connection module (60), and there is a valve (32) in each fluid feed duct (12) to control fluid flow. The valves (32) may be controlled by a stack monitor (84)."
The patent was filed on March 20 under Application No. PCT/GB2012/050600.

Mr Abramovich is apparently behind the share price spike (see today's RNS). I read it as indicating a dilution of the shares with new shares, but presumably I've got this wrong.

Interesting how many of these sudden share price moves precede the official release of information...

Which will make many companies with huge energy needs looking to secure there own supply, maybe an good opportunity for AFC, hospitals come to mind with so much waste food not fit for human consumption.

ASh....Yep The only problem with that business plan, funding the initial cost of manufacture is down to AFC, I'm not sure whether they are tying up the costs in maintenance contract, however, profits will increase slowly if relying on a percentage of electricity produced.

beeez...The difference with afc is that they wish to keep ownership of the fuel cell thereby considerably de risking the investment for industry.
