J Tuwatmoya,

Long Aegis Plc LSE:AGS 125.50p

Filled gap to 123.50p, completed 13 day down, Bolloré building big stake raft of notifiable interests, all indicators oversold EMA/SMA Convergence

Potential short term target 137.50p I reckon GS say 175p (technically 176.50p credible IMO)

All IMHO, NAG, DYOR etc

Cheers

Ash:)

looks like they called his bluff...

PARIS (AFX) - Publicis SA has decided not to launch a friendly takeover
offer for Aegis Group PLC, after pursuing preliminary talks with the UK group
since mid-September, a source close to matter said.
A Publicis spokesman, however, said that no decision has yet been made.
The source said that Publicis will officially announce its decision against
an Aegis offer tonight or this weekend.
While Publicis was discussing an offer with Aegis, French businessman
Vincent Bollore, who is also chairman of rival ad group Havas SA, steadily
bought Aegis shares on the market.
Today, Bollore announced that this stake now stands at 15.4 pct.

the way i see it is bollore just trying to keep pressure on with his buying. if there is no bid, his average price is around 120p, will try to forge alliances between havas and aegis. that view increases pressure on others to bid now. wpp involvement probably is to help drive publicis bid higher for relatively low cost of snapping up synovate.

my guess is bollore is trying to put the pressure on publicis to do the deal, and to pay cash. if they dont, bollore will try to arrange other deals, most obviously between havas and aegis in media buying. but that might not create much value, unless he can do some deal say with WPP eg to carve up aegis. if publicis do buy aegis perhaps it will be too big a bite to swallow with the leverage and goodwill to take on. and hence could weaken a key competitor of havas. so perhaps publicis should call bollore's bluff and walk away
