Aegis initiated with "add"

Wednesday, March 17, 2004 11:01:07 AM ET
HSBC

NEW YORK, March 17 (New Ratings) - Analysts at HSBC initiate coverage of Aegis Group (AI4) with an "add" rating.

In a research note published this morning, the analysts mention that the company is poised to benefit significantly in 2004 from the favourable trends in the advertising markets. According to HSBC, the market's recent reaction to the company's margin pressure and the weakness in its new business is unwarranted.

times market report

Aegis Group retreated a further 1p to 95¾p, despite the purchase of 75,000 shares by four directors at 97¼p following the sell-off that has followed the advertising agencies prelims

Bought a few of these today at around 95p - been tracking for a while - thought the reent results showed they were on track for a longer term recovery as the market and sector move up.

Announcemet on a clutch of director buys at slightly higher prices and the bouncing off a major support line persuaded me today was the day

Astonishingly generous pullback yesterday.........featured in FT's LEX today as a sector pick !

AGS now in wife's SIPP as mine is now focusing on the riskier Covered Warrants..........didn't think she'd be able to add @ 100.97p. Might drop below 100p now on the back of general market weakness but Strong Buy at these levels IMO.

Aegis shares added 3 pence to 109 buoyed by quarterly figures
from French advertising peers Publicis and Havas, which beat forecasts and
showed a recovering trend in Europe.

"One of the themes appears to be that media buying is recovering - this is
particularly good news for Aegis which specialises in this area," UBS noted.

I sure hope you are right.
Though I feel it will take a while to achieve your goal.
Not the fastest car in the garage.
AGS owes me (and everyone for that matter) for our patience over the last few weeks.
Would sure like to see some movement north.

Watch out guys......the slip back for AGS (and other Media stocks) may be sharper than I had envisaged. Presumably there will be a bounce back up to c108p on Monday but we may be able to get some more of these beauties @ c95.5p before the dust is settled in about 1 months time.
