anyone know what bollore is up to?

havas apparently unlikely to buy AGS (brokers), as AGS is bigger, unless like pernod/allied, but this would be a 50% premium, presumably not that many synergies? AGS would seem unkeen on a merger since has had no wish to get into content they say.

so will they flush out another bidder? whats going on?

IMO the aquisition process appears to be creating loads of shareholder value.

However, to more serious matters. Does anyone know whether French investment companies, buying stock on the LSE, have to report this on the LSE's RNS? If not, does this explain large selling paterns, with no equivalent buys, while the share price continues to rise? i.e. do the shares just disappear into a French black hole?

Vincent Bollore, the maverick French financier, revealed last night that he had taken a 6% stake in Aegis, the media buying group.

The purchase, at a cost of roughly £70m, triggered speculation that Bollore would seek to merge it with Havas, the French advertising group in which he holds a 22% stake

I dislike long articles being posted on these boards. However, if you're interested, type 'havas' into google, then under 'news results for havas', click on update 3-havas sales beats forecast, There you will find various, interesting comments.

Generally in these situations i would say somewhere in the middle, say 147p. Intrinsically this stock is worth it. This dance will go on for a while IMO.

Based on wpp's turnover it should be 250p which, of course, is ridiculous. Based on wpp's p/e and multiple of actual pbt (twelve times what it makes) and we get 115p.

So let's be generous to the proposed acquirer and leave something for them when they double their margins.

We'll call it 150p per share, a hike of 50% which ain't nowt. BET got the same percentage gain a few years' back. AGG produced similar percentage gains.

BPB however, is being a tad greedy. 720p is good money and cash always demands a discount.

Yours etc.,

Havas would have to dig deep.......AGS was always going to get back to 150p+ and I was hoping for c168.25p which is a PER of about 30 which is what I think its worth !

pkvidean - if it looks like insider dealing and smells like insider dealing, then it must be ..................?

Put another way, I bought purely on volume and am praying for lightening to strike twice!

Yes, stonec10, good point about trading volume........bit large for a broker upgrade, don't you think ?

There is also, an out of context trading volume. The last time I saw something comparable was the day before Aggreko anounced that they had accepted a take over bid!
