21/9/2005 19:02 | True, we ll see what tomorrow brings- theres a buy for every sell, price has stayed at 1.45 all day but you are right about the upside- unless a bidding war breaks out- which i have hoped for for a long time -even so it ain 't going to go over £1.60 | pyman
21/9/2005 14:21 | There has been huge selling today. When your upside to holding is a max of @6p from current levels, whats the point in holding with that risk/reward ? It seems many of the long term holders are getting out today and the hedge funds are doing their usual low option punts in the hope of a counter bidder. That could be a big mistake imo, as to get a counter bidder, you need a real bidder first. We are still a long way from a firm bid. | mike crowsoft
21/9/2005 11:24 | I do think a counter-offer is likely with aegis. However, equally Publicis offer is not definate yet. Suprised how quiet this thread is although time and time again I have made money on the stocks that are not popular on the BBs. Well, will have to leave you alone now pyman. Best of luck, hope a higher offer comes through for you. Dave | dave j
21/9/2005 11:08 | Publicis are reported in les echos to want a freindly purchase. French usually overpay- Hooray- think they cannot do it all in cash though, hmmm. Come on omnicon- but i guess they will wait and see. | pyman
21/9/2005 10:49 | NIce one! I ve been waiting 3 years for this action -still in but only just. This is a prize that will have a lot of interest but the costs may be difficult to live with for some.25p came but is there another 10? | pyman
21/9/2005 09:57 | I sold today. Always sell on t/over news. Whilst there could be a counter-bid, banking a 40% profit is not to be sniffed at. | dave j
21/9/2005 09:27 | So who else will come out of the shadows? | pyman
21/9/2005 07:48 | LONDON (AFX) - Aegis Group PLC confirmed press reports that it has received a bid approach at 140 pence per share. But the UK media and market research group said the approach is preliminary, and there is no certainty an offer will be made. It did not reveal the source of the approach. There has been speculation that French entrepreneur Vincent Bollore has his eyes on Aegis after he bought a 6 pct stake in the company. Bollore owns 22 pct of French advertising group Havas, where he is chairman. | dave j
20/9/2005 13:11 | End game approaching methinks. Nice flag formation too.Should be another 25p in it i hope. | pyman
05/9/2005 10:51 | LONDON (AFX) - Advertising placement company Aegis Group PLC is facing a 1.3 bln stg break-up bid from a consortium of media bidders, The Business reported, without citing sources. The group is working with a London-based investment bank to carve up the firm, the paper said. One trade buyer will take Synovate, its market research business, and the others will share its Carat, Vizeum and Posterscope media buying businesses. The consortium has yet to approach the British business, the newspaper claimed. The story comes amid mounting speculation the company will be acquired by or merge with French advertising company Havas. Recent reports claimed the two have held talks over creating a media buying joint venture to help improve their position against rivals such as WPP Group PLC. Last month, Groupe Bollore, which is controlled by French businessman Vincent Bollore, bought a 6.0 pct stake in Aegis. Meanwhile the Sunday Telegraph reported the world's largest advertising group Omnicom Group INC approached Aegis with a 1.45 bln stg offer at the end of last year, which was rejected as too low. amy.brown@afxnews.co ab/cml | dave j
26/8/2005 09:31 | Yesterday and so far today, long strings of 'automatic' buys. Do the traders know something? Have we just found a new support level? Anyone smell another rat? Any opinions? | stonec10
