19/12/2012 07:07 | India!!! RNS Number : 8552T Acta S.p.A. 19 December 2012 Press Release 19 December 2012 Acta S.p.A. ("Acta" or "the Company") Letter of Intent for Distribution Partnership for India Acta S.p.A. (AIM: ACTA), the clean energy products company, is delighted to announce that it has signed a Letter of Intent with MVS Engineering Ltd ("MVS"), India's largest supplier of industrial gas equipment and solutions, for the distribution of Acta's electrolysers in India through MVS's new business division, MVS Energy Solutions. MVS specialises in on-site gas solutions for Nitrogen, Oxygen and Hydrogen. They have supplied Gas generation equipment to over 56 countries worldwide and have supplied their Air and Gas equipment to more than 60% of the top 1,000 companies in India. MVS is forming a new division called MVS Energy Solutions ("MVS Energy") to address the growing need in the Indian market for back-up power solutions. Acta and MVS Energy intend to sign a distribution contract early in 2013, once local administrative procedures have been completed, for the distribution of Acta's electrolysers and related products into the Indian market. The objective of the partnership is to allow the introduction of on-grid and off-grid integrated fuel cell back-up power solutions based on on-site hydrogen generation. India is one of the world's largest markets for back-up power systems, including the telecoms market, due to the limited and fragile nature of the electricity grid. India currently has more than 370,000 telecom base stations (Source: Analysys Mason). Paolo Bert, Chief Executive of Acta commented: "This is another important step forward for Acta's mission to introduce cost-effective on-site hydrogen solutions for back-up power, renewable energy and other fuel cell applications. We are delighted to be working with MVS Energy Solutions and to be able to benefit from their technical credibility, production experience and market reach." Siddharth Rastogi, Executive Director of MVS commented: "We look forward to working with Acta for distribution of electrolysers based on their innovative stack technology and we see great opportunities in the Indian back-up power market. MVS Energy Solutions has been formed to offer complete end-to-end solutions for Hydrogen-centric backup power and Acta's innovative and low-cost Hydrogen generators range will be a core component at the heart of our solutions." | vivgav
18/12/2012 10:14 | excellent news, what a smashing company to be invested in. I expect ACTA will be on a few 'stocks to watch in 2013' lists by the journos and tipsters - company ticks all the boxes, clean, green and limited free stock | cheekyfella

18/12/2012 07:24 | RNS Number : 7450T Acta S.p.A. 18 December 2012 Press Release 18 December 2012 Acta S.p.A. ("Acta" or "the Company") Acta Receives EU Grant Confirmation Acta S.p.A (AIM:ACTA), the clean energy products company, is pleased to announce that the Alkammonia grant project, which is led by project leader AFC Energy Plc, has received notification of conditional grant approval. The project, which is funded by the EU Fuel Cells and Hydrogen Joint Undertaking (FCH-JU) to develop ammonia-fed alkaline fuel cells, is worth up to EUR1.96 million. The Company is due to receive up to EUR398,000 for its participation as partner in the project over the next three years. The project approval, which is subject to final negotiation and agreement, is expected to be in place to enable the project to commence from March 2013. Acta will be providing an ammonia cracking reactor and catalysts to the project. Ammonia has high hydrogen content and can be easily converted to hydrogen by processing (cracking) it through a catalyst. Acta's ammonia catalyst contains no precious metals and performs better than commercial platinum group metals catalysts in converting the ammonia to hydrogen, which, in turn, powers the fuel cell. Alkaline fuel cells such as AFC Energy's fuel cells have the advantage of being able to tolerate ammonia traces in the fuel stream. Ammonia is a carbon free fuel, and in its liquid form at 20degC and 9 bar pressure, it has a higher hydrogen content than liquid hydrogen or hydrogen compressed at 900 bar. Emissions from the ammonia cracking plus alkaline fuel cell are only water and nitrogen. Acta has previously been engaged in grant-funded and joint development projects for the development of ammonia-cracking catalysts for automotive applications. The Company believes that this technology is complementary to its award-winning water electrolysers for PEM fuel cells and other applications where pure hydrogen is needed. Paolo Bert, Chief Executive of Acta commented: "We are very pleased to have been invited to participate in this project for the development of ammonia fed alkaline fuel cell systems and to receive confirmation of this grant award. Acta has a long history in developing alkaline catalysis and fuel cells with the use of ammonia as a hydrogen vector. We are excited that the technology is now being recognised as viable for a number of applications and markets." | vivgav

11/12/2012 11:45 | As we know Acta are targeting the right customer area, and the news is good for those customers.......... Future-E, SEFCA, Heliocentris, M-Field are all targeting the telecom sector with their fuel cell products US DoE blog "During Hurricane Sandy, fuel cells were instrumental in providing backup power for cell towers and keeping cell phone communications open for many in New York, New Jersey and Connecticut. Altergy, a manufacturer of fuel cell power systems, had more than 60 fuel cells in the immediate Sandy disaster area acting as backup power for cell phone towers. While many of the diesel, propane and battery cell phone tower backup generators were affected by the storm, all of the cell towers powered by fuel cells ran without any issues -- allowing many disaster victims to continue accessing their cell phone network. UTC Power, another fuel cell manufacturer, had more than 20 fuel cells systems installed in the New England and New York area affected by Sandy. Its 400 kW systems provided continuous power to buildings such as grocery stores, with only one fuel cell shut down temporarily due to an issue related to the fuel cell's balance of plant -- a balance of plant refers to the components beyond the fuel cell. The unit restarted after it was quickly and safely repaired." | swimhat

09/12/2012 08:14 | encarter ....... I'm expecting that the Hannover Messe 2013 will see the launch from Heliocentris of their back-up/off-grid fuel cell products for the Telecoms sector (along the lines of the Future-E system) One thing is for sure, when P Bert does his video interviews he'll be able to point people to other exhibitors at the show who are now utilising Acta's Tech ............. | swimhat
09/12/2012 07:57 | encarter/Mattjos ....... The Hydrofill Pro has been on sale for a few months now. Something I found interesting is that even though according to the user manual the stack used is apparently still a PEM the same as the original Hydrofill, the fact that the PRO doesn't seem to require an Ion Exchange Resin pouch which I understand is required in a PEM electrolyser to help stop any damage from impurities and which should be changed at least once every six months, throws up an interesting discrepancy ........... food for thought!!! also a link to the ITM FAQ on their PEM electrolysers for another example of an Ion Exchange Resin pouch required for a PEM system | swimhat
