Held well in the end. At one point was down by almost 5p.

Any idea on the fall this morning? The volume is not very low either.

Should be promoted back to the FTSE250 in September.

Today's trades indicate that there is still significant buying in evidence. It will be interesting to see if Lansdowne are continuing to accumulate shares, or whether another institution has taken up the running.

Action date is 31/8/2005, so tarde in ex-rights nil paid should be a day or two later.

The recent purchases by Lansdowne are encouraging for holders and give them a meaningful stake. If they have now stopped buying ( certainly no volume today ) the price may slip back a bit.

Can anyone confirm when the shares will traded in ex-rights nil paid form?

I've had a message from now-named Squaredeal.

It says the action date is 31/8/2005. No mention of the record date.

Yes, I know about the XR dilution effect & price adjustment factor in SP, but have in the past sold the then current holding at a price way above the price of the new shares (Eg.: LIG, QA., SEG) to recover (part of) the holding at the reduced XR price.

Can be very profitable if you're lucky.

I think I might well hold & subscribe anyway.
Depends what else I can sell.

It's never quite as simple as you suggest. If you sell your existing shares now you won't be entitled to buy them back at 63p.
The shares are currently priced around 147p. They will in due course go 'ex-rights' and the price will be arithmetically adjusted. On the stated basis of 3 for 2 at 63p, the ex-rights price for the existing ordinary shares will be approx 96.6p, or 33.6p premium for the new nil paid. If you then choose to sell your rights entitlement nil paid you would get the premium.

I haven't been able to find any specific mention of the record date for the rights issue. Am I correct in assuming that it was 7th July?
I intend to hold my present shares and take up all the rights issue shares. I think that ADN has plenty of legs from here for a quite respectible % rise during the test of the year.

Mandible - I think you're right, & am waiting to have my rights booked as reserving/exercising them means I can sell my holding & buy back 150% of what I have at 63p!!!

Like they say: "If it looks too good to be true, it usually is!"
Hope this is an exception.

Mandible - I find it hard to assess this deal too. Still happy today though!

It's still a bit of a mystery to me why the deal is thought to be THAT good, given the prospective 66% increase in shares on issue. There will absolutely have to be a material increase in earnings from the start to keep the return on investment % up. Or am I missing some vital insight here?

Managed to add yesterday at 125 but watched like a stunned rabbit this morning as the price rose and then lost the plot as the awful events of this morning unfolded in London.

Anyway, anyone know of a good article explaining the consequences of the deal announced today?
