i went in the local newsagent yesterday so looked at the small tabloids and all but one offered a free £2 William Hill bet on Cheltenham . Corals had nicked prime position on the other offering the same free £2 bet - which is more than these small papers cost.

In the area of local news, five conglomerates (Gannett, JPIMedia, Trinity Mirror, Tindle and Archant) account for 80% of all titles (it was six companies back in 2015) while 57 smaller publishers have less than 20% of the remaining titles.


I noticed that the local weekly Newspaper also had the £2 free bet for Cheltenham.
So we can now see the great lengths they are going to flood the local newspapers with free £2 Cheltenham free bet vouchers - When the Grand National comes along we will have "Biblical flooding" of these "helicopter style" free £2 bets ?

Just to remind you all 888 are giving everyone a free £5 bet every day at Cheltenham yes you will get substandard odds but at least it is still free - to think 40+ years ago punters had to pay was it 10% tax on their ocassional win. It just shows what mug punters there were and still are out there. as opposed to "current" mug shareholders.

I am hearing that 888/William Hill has been ending a lot of UK affiliate partnerships very abrutly and breaking their own T&C.They have ended deals giving no notice to partners and not paying any future revenue share agreements, this will save huge amounts during Cheltenham and future months but destroys the reputation and trust.This is also exactly what Skybet did just before it sold the company as it cancels out any future liabilty.Let's see what is going to happen in the coming weeks.

888 Holdings has employed a CEO who has a strong Compliance and Governance outlook. The CEO seems to be on the road with partnering recently with A. I provider. The board has been active since the CEO's appointment and taking decisions on the group's outlook. On 26 March 2026, the CEO plan will be unveiled to Investors.

A global betting business with world class brands now value at just £300m. I really don't see how there could be any downside here just sit tight a bid is coming sooner rather than later.

A sell-side analyst works for an investment bank or a brokerage firm and evaluates companies for future earnings growth and other investment criteria. These calls provide an opportunity for the analyst to pitch their investment thesis and get feedback from potential investors.

The CEO plan was put forward but a bit more in-depth. The hard sell with factual information, not the usual "How it may look in a year". The core of the business is profitable it's just reducing or eliminating the debt.

It's looking very likely penn will do a deal either for USA assets or entire company. Holding this back is the gambling commission review which has to be the longest review in the history of reviews. Even new licence requests don't take as long

I agree Bedford1976 but maybe that is the point of the Review probably to get the ball rolling. The majority shareholder does want to sell but at the right price.

This speculative point on my part. There have been many strategic reviews by companies and within 3 months a bid has materialized. A business without debt is profitable to which 888 Holdings has core profit margins in excess of £300Million. Also, the CEO bought 2 million shares back in October 2023, and the Chairman.

My opinion here is the complete 888 business is now effectively up for sale. I can't see anyone messing around with a US purchade any buyer is going to take the whole ship.

As expected cutting back and reducing loss-making Assets. Look to old posts on what was expected in 888 Holdings. 888 Holdings from here will be interesting(If a bid did come in why duplicate cross-over in the USA).

Results were announced on the early trading update remember £1,721 Billion with a slight profit but reinvested in tech. Points on the update were

Peel Hunt 17/1/24-"We believe that this kitchen-sinking of numbers was anticipated in the share price, but the growth potential is not," analysts at Peel Hunt said.

On the basis of selling and buying is wise but there is a chance you may sell your position and wait on a lower price. When a bid comes in you probably miss the boat. It is not advice but an observation of what may come about.

My position is Hold and topping up when fall below my weight average.

Wow! William Hill and the re-entry to the USA have been two huge strategic misteps. Ive been out for some time. Can see no reason for going back now. a regulated US market was always the big growth opportunity to me.
