You have to think it will go north of £3 , as we all know the major shareholder values the company at that price in its present mode.

Chris Grove report, he seems to think it has legsWILLIAM HILL SEEMS UNIMPRESSED with the acquisition overture from Rank / 888, suggesting in a statement that such a deal would do little to benefit William Hill's "strategic positioning." 888, unsurprisingly, doesn't see it that way, claiming there's "significant industrial logic" in the merger. While it's early days, my sense is that the offer has legs and William Hill isn't exactly rich with options at this point. If the deal does go through, one so-far-not-discussed impact would be to give the combined company a dominant position in the Nevada interactive gaming market; 888 powers the state's only online poker site, and William Hill is a strong force in the market for mobile sports betting in Nevada.

Trendboy ,
When you say the deal makes sense , what would 888 get out of it ?
Just asking as i thought Wmh had mainly shops with a struggling online presence ?
Wouldn't think 888 needed shops but obviously there is far more too it than that.

Hills just too slow the last 2 years. The CEO had to go for such a poor performance of late. All egos on PTEC issue and they lost big timeI hold a lot of 888 and WHMThe deal makes sense but it is tragic that Hills is the one being take over. Not sure what it will mean for 888 share price though but should be good short term

Rank Group and 888 Holdings have formed a consortium that will pave the way for a wider bid for ailing bookmaker William Hill, as the companies are pushed together by a wave of consolidation rippling through the gambling industry. The tie-up between Rank, the owner of Grosvenor Casinos and Mecca Bingo, and online bookmaker 888 is being driven by a desire to gain greater scale to help absorb the costs from tougher regulation and higher taxes."The consortium sees significant industrial logic in the combination, through consolidation of their complementary online and land-based operations, delivery of substantial revenue and cost synergies and from the anticipated benefits of economies of scale which will accrue to all shareholders," a joint statement between Rank and 888 said on Sunday. From today's FT

The consolidation im the industry continues apace. Small is most certainly not viewed as being a good thing to be in the gaming industry.

Must admit to that, for horse racing it is the most user unfriendly site.
Won't complain if the share price keeps rising though!.

Can't think why 888 would want Wm H but there's a lot of reasons why Wm H would need 888.
