Item 8.01  Other Events

Investor Services Program

       Energy East suspended transactions under its Investor Services Program on August 25, 2008, due to its pending merger with Iberdrola, S. A. Provided all closing conditions for the merger are completed, including approval from the New York State Public Service Commission, and the merger is completed, the Investor Services Program will be terminated.
