CATC Introduces Merlin II(TM), Bluetooth(R) V1.2 Protocol Analysis System
SANTA CLARA, Calif., Nov. 3 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Computer Access
Technology Corporation (CATC) , a leading communications protocol expert
company, today introduced the CATC Merlin II, the newest in their extensive line
of expert Bluetooth protocol analyzers. Merlin II is the next generation of
CATC's award winning Merlin(TM) family of products. It is compliant with
version 1.2 of the Bluetooth specification and is based on a unique and highly
portable form factor. Merlin II enables designers to quickly identify and
correct design issues as well as assist manufacturers to pre-screen devices for
standard compliance and interoperability.
Merlin II is a powerful tool addressing the changing needs of the Bluetooth
design and manufacturing communities, supporting the complete capture, decode
and analysis of the Bluetooth specification v1.2. Its small size allows its use
in tight workspaces and it can be easily positioned for optimal antenna
placement and data capture. Merlin II has extensive triggering capabilities and
robust filtering, enabling the user to focus only on relevant data by avoiding
lengthy and laborious searches through captured data. For extended recording
sessions, the analyzer can spool data to an external disk drive allowing for
virtually unlimited memory capacity. Merlin II is fully compatible with CATC's
Merlin, Merlin Mobile(TM) and the BTTracer/Trainer(TM) Bluetooth analysis
systems.
"Merlin II is the natural evolution of the CATC Merlin family of products --
incorporating those features and functionality most demanded by our customers,"
stated Fred Rastgar, director of Computing Products for CATC. "By offering a
highly portable and cost-effective analyzer that supports the latest Bluetooth
specification, we continue to show our commitment to our growing customer
base."
Like all CATC analyzer products, the Merlin II utilizes the powerful CATC
Trace(TM) expert analysis software to process, decode and analyze captured
Bluetooth traffic. The CATC Trace embeds a deep understanding of the Bluetooth
protocol hierarchy and intricacies and presents this information to the user in
a colorful, intuitive and easy to use graphical display, allowing customers to
quickly discover and correct persistent and intermittent errors and flaws in
product designs.
