York-based Tissue Regenix (LSE:TRX) announced this morning that it has launched it DermaPure™ product in the U.S. and will be shipping product to customers next week. The TRX share price gained 27.27% to 26.50 on the day as investors demonstrated their enthusiasm in support of the projected addition $1.4 billion USD per year.
The company describes itself as “a leading medical devices company in the field of regenerative medicine.” The company has a patented decellularisation technology – dCELL® – that removes DNA and other cellular material from animal and human tissue leaving an acellular tissue scaffold will not be rejected by the patient’s body. It then can be used to repair diseased or worn out body parts to aid in recovery from vascular disease, heart valve replacement, wound care and knee repair.
The product works by actually attracting the patients own cells to fill in the blanks. 87% of all wounds treated have reduced in size. 60% have experienced complete healing.
It is fairly obvious, when Regenix says that it will be shipping product to customers as early as next wee, that they have already created a distribution pipeline. TRX partnered with Community Tissue Services, commonly known as CTS, in November 2012 to prepare for the public commercialization of dCELL®. CTS will market to acute care medical facilities.
TRX has also aligned with a CVE Verified Service Disable Veteran-Owned Small Business located in Buffalo, New York, that provides business development services to medical device and equipment manufacturers seeking to rapidly grow their federal government market share. TASSMA has the ability to open the doors of the Department of Veterans’ Affairs Healthcare System along with the active service branches of the U.S. military.
Tissue Regenix’ primary role is the commercialization of products generated as a result of academic research. The company itself is a 2006 spin-off from the University of Leeds.
TRX President, Greg Bila, said that “DermaPure™ is initially being targeted at acute care patients with diabetic foot ulcers, a condition which affects around 600,000 people in the US each year, and patients with venous leg ulcers, which currently affect around 2.5 million people in the US. We see this as a large market that is in need of medical innovation.“
