UK house price balance climbed in May

In the UK, the house price balance recorded a rise to 10.00 %, in May, higher than market expectations of an advance to a level of 21.00 %. In the previous month, house price balance had registered a revised reading of 22.00 %.

ECB President, Mario Draghi, highlights risk over rising global trade tensions

The European Central Bank (ECB) President, Mario Draghi, raised concerns over the weakening Euro-zone economy due to the ongoing global trade war. He stated that the central and eastern European business have become vulnerable to shocks to international trade and financial conditions.

US CPI advanced less than expected in May

In the US, the consumer price index (CPI) rose 1.80% on a YoY basis in May, less than market expectations for an advance of 1.90%. In the prior month, the CPI had registered a rise of 2.00%.

US budget deficit widened in May

In the US, budget deficit expanded to $207.80 billion in May, from a revised budget deficit of $146.80 billion in the previous month. Markets were anticipating the country’s budget deficit to widen to $202.50 billion.
