UK ILO unemployment rate steadied in the February-April 2019 period
In the UK, the ILO unemployment rate remained unchanged at 3.80% in the February-April 2019 period, meeting market expectations.
UK average earnings including bonus rose more than expected in the February-April 2019 period
In the UK, the average earnings including bonus registered a rise of 3.10% on an annual basis in the February-April 2019 period, compared to a rise of 3.20% in the January-March 2019 period. Market expectation was for the average earnings including bonus to climb 3.00%.
Euro-zone investor confidence index fell in June
In the Euro-zone, the investor confidence index dropped to a level of -3.30 in June, lower than market expectations of a drop to a level of 2.50. The index had registered a level of 5.30 in the prior month.
US small business optimism index unexpectedly rose in May
In the US, the small business optimism index recorded an unexpected rise to a level of 105.00 in May, compared to a level of 103.50 in the previous month. Market expectation was for the index to drop to 102.00.
Japanese machinery orders unexpectedly advanced in April
In Japan, machinery orders unexpectedly advanced 2.50% on an annual basis in April, more than market expectations for a drop of 5.30%. In the prior month, machinery orders had dropped 0.70%.
