US CPI rose more than anticipated in January
In the US, the consumer price index (CPI) advanced 7.50% on a YoY basis in January, compared to a rise of 7.00% in the prior month. Markets were expecting the CPI to record an advance of 7.30%.
US posted a budget surplus in January
In the US, budget surplus stood at $119.00 billion in January, compared to a deficit of $21.30 billion in the prior month. Markets were expecting the US to record a surplus of $25.00 billion.
US number of initial jobless claims dropped more than expected last week
In the US, number of initial jobless claims declined to 223.00K on a weekly basis in the week ended 4 February 2022, compared to a revised reading of 239.00K in previous week. Markets were expecting the initial jobless claims to drop to a level of 230.00K.
